Ecar, wonderful to see photos taken with the Steinheil Quinon! It's one of the lenses on my wish list for the future. Looks like a veryy nice performance.

For me the color version works best. The black shades in the black and white version are so dark that they disturb part of the image, in my opinion.

Glad you like them, Lex. I did post a couple of pictures here a while ago, but it hasn’t seen much use lately. My observations in the linked post (apologies for quoting myself) still stand. The only point I’d add is that distortion is primarily a near-focus issue and that it’s not of a “complex” type – i.e., it takes 3 secs to correct in post. Also, all lenses marked “VL” on the front ring should play nicely with the rangefinder, but some lenses without such markings are not necessarily Paxette versions (or may have been modified) and will work just as well on your Leica. Bottom line: try before you buy – or at least confirm with the seller and make sure you can return it.

Yeah, I know what you are saying: preserve the tonal range, don’t crush the midtones, don’t block the shadows,... And you are probably right in this instance. The thing is, I have an “aesthetic weakness” for high-contrast BW...

Anyway, here's another one - in colour 😉 - with the Quinon 50/2 on the M10P, from the same place, probably @ f/4:
