Both photos are a pleasure to the eye and an inspiration -- I especially like the way you brought out the mid-tones in tricky light. These photos are very different from your approach to light and contrast in the galleries on your site.
Ecar Posted February 22, 2021 Share #7044 Posted February 22, 2021 Thank you John for your kind comments. I think it's a combination of soothing subjects, tricky light, unforgiving lens, the wonderful CCD sensor of the M9M and ... the post-processing mood of the day! Although, as you rightly observed, it's fair to say that I usually like my finished BWs with a lot more contrast, with little consideration for the midtones. TBH, I haven't edited the web galleries for a long time now - but keep telling myself that I should set a couple of days aside to do it... (Un)fortunately, despite a drastic reduction in travel, Covid hasn't given me a lot of extra free time. Anyway, back to some pictures, as Pete would no doubt strongly suggest: these were also taken during the same forest walk with the M9M and the converted Kinoptik 40/2. All around f/4 IIRC. Did you talk to the subjects of your portraits in the galleries, e.g., in Istanbul? I have a question about one of the photos.
