Advertisement Posted March 4, 2014 Posted March 4, 2014 Hi farnz, Take a look here The view through older Glass. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
christoph_d Posted March 4, 2014 Share #1882 Posted March 4, 2014 Schön (=nice). How do you like this lens? Does it draw as a typical Sonnar such as the CZJ 2/50 or the 1.5/50? Regards, Christoph Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
farnz Posted March 4, 2014 Author Share #1883 Posted March 4, 2014 Christoph, I have quiet a number of Sonnars including 50/1.5 CZJ, 50/1.5 Opton, 50/1.5 C-Sonnar, and 50/2 CZJ and they all draw a little differently owing to age, number of elements, and coatings. The Rollei has that exquisitely soft Sonnar look in the out of focus areas but with its maximum aperture f/2.8 it finds those areas in a more leisurely manner. It is sharp where you want it to be and doesn't suffer the inevitable focus shift of the f/1.5 designs and has the typical Sonnar flare resistance. It's a good all round lens that's very well built and a joy to use. If it was faster (I admit I've become a lens speed freak:o) with the same performance then it would spend most of its time on my camera. Pete.
christoph_d Posted March 5, 2014 Share #1884 Posted March 5, 2014 Pete, Thanks, sounds like an interesting lens. A bit like I see the Elmar-M 2.8/50... Rgds Christoph Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

pgk Posted March 8, 2014 Share #1887 Posted March 8, 2014 Advertisement (gone after registration) M9 and 90mm 'thin' Tele-Elmarit wde open at f/2.8 (not at f/4 as the exif suggests!). A bit of fun - I suspect the sheep thought he was well hidden behind the post:D. Softer than the Elmarit-M at f/2.8 as I was told on the forum before I bought one, but capable of excellent results stopped down and not so bad at full aperture either (not that this can be shown from such a web posting). Less flare than I expected, even trying shots against the light (I do use the latest 12575 hood though). I could get used to this little beauty. Welcome, dear visitor! LocalHero1953 Posted March 12, 2014 Share #1892 Posted March 12, 2014 I've just acquired a Nikkor 10.5 f/2.5 for portraits on an M240. This is an early trial shot at ISO800 and wide open. No adjustments in Lightroom except slight cropping for balance. My Purchasing Director appreciates both the low cost of such old lenses and their kindliness to skin tones. Welcome, dear visitor!
