Hi Farnz,

I've been a big fan of the long Running M8 & Older Glass thread and I love that a similar thread has been started that is less tied to specific Camera. Hopefully this thread will have as much popularity and longevity as it's predecessor! I'm shooting very little at the moment as I recuperate from a shouter fix, but I intend to try to post something of merit sometime soon.

Just got my new (old used) M9 back from Leica CS (Rangefinder was vertical misaligned) and took some first testshots with the canon 50 1,2 LTM at a local historic firefighting Expo.

Apertures between 1.4 and 4

1. Picture: Magirus steam driven pump 1908 vintage

2. Picture: Water out of the Magirus steam pump

3. Picture: Magirus air cooled firefighter trucks 1950s vintage, called "alligators" due to the form of the hood.

4. Picture: Detail of a Daimler Benz vintage 1928 truck

Hi Phillipus,

Thanks for the lens size comparison shots and for throwing an SLR Fifty into the group shot as a size reference - especially handy for those members who have yet to physically experience the diminutive nature of RF Glass.

Sincerely

An unscientific comparison of two 50mm lenses... an Industar 22 (1949 Russian Zorki, shown left) and a Summilux Pre-Asph (~2000 German Leica, shown right) both shot on a Leica M9.

Here's the final shot from the set after post processing. I was surprised at how well the old Russian lens peformed in the test (at about f/5.6), but I used the Leica Pre-Asph for the final composites anyway.
