Michael Jackson connected with Rio de Janeiro in 1996 when he shot part of the "They don't care about us" video in the Santa Marta favela in Botafogo.

A statue was erected in 1990.

great photos Lax- and looks like a great little doggie. As soon as I saw these I though that has to be Australia- something about that afternoon light on the pavement- then I looked at you signature and yes- melbourne.

Here is a similar picture taken during that afternoon summer light- not sure if you can categorise this lens as vintage (though it is out of production): a CV f2 28mm Ultron:

 

Oh- and on another note: am I the only one who finds that Michael Jackson statue somewhat disturbing? Weird... where is that?
