I really, really wish, Nikon would run a re-issue of this AND the spectacular Millennium Nikkor in LTM or even Leica M mount, both with revised ergonomics (direction of focus and aperture controls in Leica fashion)!

FWIW on this topic, I have toyed around with the idea of trying to remount a late Nikonos 35mm f/2.5 underwater lens in a rangefinder mount. It is essentially the same 1950s design that was used by Nikon for their rangefinders with one important addition - late lenses were multi-coated as far as I can discover. The whole optical assembly can easily be removed from the waterproof 'container' in which it sits but would require the fabrication of both focusing mount and aperture ring. That said these Nikonos lenses are now pretty cheap and late mint examples are not too rare - I have one somewhere....

have really been enjoying my Chiyoda Kogaku Super Rokkor 50mm F1.8

i bought it for my M5, but tested it with my M8. It's a beauty to use! The lens was originally made in the mid-1950s (pre-Minolta).
