Guest NEIL-D-WILLIAMS Posted December 23, 2016 Share #1  Posted December 23, 2016 Advertisement (gone after registration) I'm wondering what would be a reasonable price for a second hand 24/90mm SL lens. After trying my mates I was very impressed with the AF......... the files were pretty good as well.  Neil   Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

After trying my mates I was very impressed with the AF......... the files were pretty good as well.  Neil   Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk   The Hong Kong price for a new one is hovering just over $4000 US, and the price for an SL body alone is now about $6000 US, but I was recently able to get the compete kit, lightly used, for just over $7000 US in an online auction.  Probably I was lucky, but I think around $3500 for the lens alone in indistinguishable-from-new condition is realistic.  Wait about two weeks for the January doldrums.  scott
Robert E Posted December 23, 2016 Share #3 Â Posted December 23, 2016 Hi Neil, Â I was able to pick up my 24/90 for $3150.00 including shipping. It was only 2 months old and absolutely like new, came with original receipt from Ken Hanson. Seller must have had buyers remorse and sold both the SL and lens shortly after getting it, says it was to heavy to carry around. Then a few weeks later he emailed he now regretted selling them both. I've also seen the 90/280 offered for $5500.00 in like new condition. Hope this helps. Regards, Â Robert E

I recently saw a 90-280 at $5300 US at Popflash, also nearly new with a warranty.  scott
Bill W Posted December 23, 2016 Share #5 Â Posted December 23, 2016 I picked up my 24-90 as a CPO from Leica Miami for $4195 including shipping. It was sealed just like a new unit. No clue what makes it a CPO but it comes with the same warranty as a new one.

Jeff S Posted December 24, 2016 Share #8 Â Posted December 24, 2016 Certified pre-owned. Â Often it's no different than getting a new lens (or camera) at a discount...and with warranty. Â Jeff

Wonder if you can find a CPO for even less in Scotland.   You may as well demo the new 50 Summilux SL when you get a chance.....and compare that to your Noctilux....with AF and weather sealing to boot.  Is the X1D a demo model (prototype) or 'final' production with latest FW?  Jeff

I think I would be more interested in the 90/280 as my 70/200 was my favorite lens on my Nikon bodies........ will see

scott kirkpatrick Posted December 24, 2016 Share #13 Â Posted December 24, 2016 I think CPO is a euphemism for a discount being offered without offending the fair trade agreements that dealers must sign. Â scott

scott You might be correct. They are not open stock as the box is sealed. I believe it is a way for Leica to move some stock at different locations that has been sitting. I got three of my S lens that way.

In which case, is it directly from them or one from one of those companies that charges you 1/3 of the VAT refund to process it?  thx
scott kirkpatrick Posted December 28, 2016 Share #16  Posted December 28, 2016 Hi Neil, Is that with a VAT refund at the airport? In which case, is it directly from them or one from one of those companies that charges you 1/3 of the VAT refund to process it?  thx I can't speak for the poster, but paying an intermediary is unnecessary.  I have purchased Leica lenses in UK with a commitment from the dealer that when I send them evidence from customs that I have taken it out of the EU they will (and have) refund the VAT to my credit card.  100%.  scott
Guest NEIL-D-WILLIAMS Posted December 28, 2016 Share #17  Posted December 28, 2016 Hi Neil, Is that with a VAT refund at the airport? In which case, is it directly from them or one from one of those companies that charges you 1/3 of the VAT refund to process it?  thx I've done it both ways. Paying full price at the dealer and getting the forms (filled in and signed at the dealers) signed by the customs and I see a ~19% refund on my credit card a week later. The other way is to have it shipped directly from the shop to my house and I pay the VAT price only. I then have to pay the Inport GST in Malaysia which is 6% I hope this helps
