True.... i like the look of the blue stain MP which is why im wondering if anyone has done it to a black paint MP.

Me too. My favourite MP.

I have a little bit of the white tail in the L of Leica missing on my MP. And it's black. Don't know how it fell out. I have considered blacking it out entirely also.

Saying this will be your last camera, at 56 years old, is a bold but inspiring statement. It shall brass very nicely !

I bout a m4-p in 1988 and upgraded it to a m-a this year so it should take me to my 90's.  I may have to stack few thousands feeds of double XX at some point and dev these in coffee and vitamin c tablets.

That’s interesting…how’d you find the Ma compared to M4-p? I mean mechanically… i know that my M2 is smoother when winding vompared to my MP

How many of you use built-in light meter on MP and how many uses external light meter like Sekonic or Pentax? I'm hesitant to buy an external light meter for years, although I'm hearing people love to have one in their bag. I don't know, I found the one on the camera sufficient, and I never totally miss the exposure even when running and gunning. If I'm shooting landscapes, and have all the time in the world to meter every leaf, then yeah, it's probably good idea to have a spot meter.

Well the m4-P was the last of the breed that started with the M2, they share the same geometry, same shutter mechanism.  That change with the MP, the shutter was redesign.  The M-A is nothing more than a MP without electronics.  So yes there's a difference that I can see and really hear moving from the M4-P to the M-A. Different vibration and sound, less discrete if I can say so.  But haptically it's the same camera.  The viewfinder is a bit more contrasty well a little little bit.  Beside there's the obvious, rewind knob and winding lever.

I always rely on the built in meter, always spot on, though depending on how you want the frame look and the lighting position, e.g backlight or silhouette need to add or decrease extra stops accordingly

Yeah, unless I'm sure it's metering a middle tone, I'm not even trying to get to that red dot in the middle.

Btw — I love my MP, but I don't like that metering display. Is there any reason why they couldn't bring more modern one with the scale from -3 to 3? Legacy from previous Ms, simplicity? It would be much easier to know how far you are from the zero exposure.

Having the display already a distraction, the lesser the better for most i believe, even personally i use my M2r the most due to its cleaner display

but i guess that comes down to personal preference

i love my MP too, its the tittle’s  thread after all
