Wow. 16,710 unit difference between two days.  The Leica elves are busy.

Stocking the shelves with "out of stock" much sought after stock? Do I need a backup silver chrome? Ha, ha, ha!

Nowadays the serial numbers do not correlate with the completion date of the respective camera. The number is engraved at the time the cover plate is manufactured. The assembly of the individual parts into a camera can take place much later. Therefore a newer camera may have a lower number than an older one. Also it is not possible to draw conclusions about how many cameras were built in a period "x". I received this information directly from Leica Wetzlar.

How long is that, if we assume that the male life expectancy in the US and Europe is around 79 years (as of 2021)?

Oops, it's time to sell my Leica's........quickly.

I’m done buying cameras for a while. Just scored this slightly used MP (was hoping to have a brand new black paint mp buy now). Adiós to my M6…

I have a black paint but a silver chrome has a classic look that I like very much.  My next new digital may well be silver chrome.  Brassing on a BP is nice but a classic look right out of the box is great, too.

Honestly, I got BP because that was what came in stock even though I had ordered a Silver Chrome. They offered me a BP because they didn’t get Silver Chrome, but sometimes I wonder if I should have been more patient. Silver Chrome MPs are absolutely beautiful, such as the one you just picked up. Congrats on the purchase!
