Because they think we are idiots and will pay for anything...

Bit harsh.

Sure it's garish, but some will like it.  I really like the idea that Leica will release something like this as it might appeal to some - clearly Dr Kaufmann likes it.  Where's the problem?

You're not supposed to replace your black one, you're supposed to buy this one in addition. It's for the days you wear your red faced Rolex and want to coordinate. :)

I don`t own a Rolex! They make a million watches a year. My watchmaker tells he is Lucky if he gets 1 or 2 of mine yearly.

Back when Alpa was about to go broke, they churned out goldplated versions of the 11si. I do hope that this is just a device to subsidise optical R&D. Other colours might serve the same purpose, so do bring out the palette.

Wow they never cease to amaze me. Every month a couple of useless tid bits have to show up on the market from Slomes.

It would be nice if some of the resources taken up with development and production of these useless tid bits could be redirected to bug fixing/enhancing the existing range and repair and servicing turnaround times.

I think you'll find that Leica has moved on from the guy grinding lenses also making the tea and opening the mail.
