rsolomon Posted October 30, 2016 Share #24 Posted October 30, 2016 Hi, Can somebody please guide me on this. Will the Crumpler 4 million dollar home bag hold a Leica m240 with 35mm Summicron (with hood) and EVF.. Also couple of spare batteries,Lens cap,and a spare lens? Thank you in advance, N.shah By the way to save room do you really need or want the EVF with only carrying a 35m. I only use mine for 75 or longer

bocaburger Posted October 30, 2016 Share #26 Posted October 30, 2016 Most of the time it seems when someone asks for opinions about a particular bag (vs asking for suggestions about suitable bags for a specified fit), it's because they really like that bag and want to buy it. I have seen and handled the crumpler in question. For $40 it's a decent enough bag (the Ona's seem overpriced for the quality) and would hold an M and 35 plus some other stuff. As to a second lens it would all depend on the particular lens. I'm old-school, have a bunch of Domke's and Billingham's and prefer those over others I've seen. With the exception of a couple of Barbour's which appear similar to Billingham Hadley's and take the latter's camera inserts. I have never had either brand break or become unserviceable. I had an issue with some padding in a Billingham, and though it was well over a decade old, the company sorted it for free.

They're there for a reason. End pockets, small bags that attach to the side of many (but not all) Hadley bags. Good for expansion. Available in two sizes. Check for bag compatibility. Also on the rucksack 25, 207 and others. The 307 also has its own end pockets. All end pockets can attach as a belt pouch as well.
Ray1684 Posted November 1, 2016 Share #28 Posted November 1, 2016 +1 to the Billingham bags; I have the Hadley Small and was caught trail walking in the rain with no cover; kept everything perfectly dry! Trying to convince myself that I don't need another Hadley (digital)
bocaburger Posted November 2, 2016 Share #29 Posted November 2, 2016 Trying to convince myself that I don't need another Hadley I'm afraid I have no such willpower and must delegate that task to my wife I've got a Hadley small, and 2 regulars, one of which is a full-leather limited edition. Plus I have a leather Barbour Tarras and some tartan-plaid wool bag which both take a Hadley insert perfectly. Those in addition to an Eventer, Alice, 225, Panexia (made for the Hasselblad X-Pan, but houses a Rollei TLR like it was born to), and a Rucksack. Bought all of them secondhand for about half-price...I'm only semi-insane
Peter Kilmister Posted November 2, 2016 Share #30 Posted November 2, 2016 Hard to beat a decent rucksack. Two shoulders rather than one. Even weight distribution is good for old backs. Good padding, excellent weather protection. No million dollar labels so no info given to thieves.
jmahto Posted November 2, 2016 Share #31 Posted November 2, 2016 I wonder how many M users even carry a bag on a typical outing. Mine is used only for storing at home. Outside it is usually carried naked on a shoulder strap. It goes in neoprene pouch for carrying in whatever bag I am carrying (office laptop bag, hiking bag, travel bag...). Extra lens goes in its own neoprene pouch. Spare battery, EVF, extra SD card, misc, goes into another lens pouch but most of the time I simply sling my camera on a shoulder with whatever lens is attached (mostly 28, sometimes 50 or 90). M is all about freedom. For exercise, there is always SL.
Tailwagger Posted November 3, 2016 Share #32 Posted November 3, 2016 I wonder how many M users even carry a bag on a typical outing. I'd wonder the opposite. Not everyone lives in the midst of a city, just walks out the door and finds something or someone interesting to shoot. Its not particularly prudent to wear a camera strapped around you neck while driving.

Its not particularly prudent to wear a camera strapped around you neck while driving. While driving my camera goes in glove compartment (in neoprene case). In fact I don't even cover my other cameras (Sony and Canon). Maybe it is just me then.
otto.f Posted November 3, 2016 Share #34 Posted November 3, 2016 I feel safer with my camera's in a bag. First of all I don't want people to see me with a camera, that reduces my chances for interesting shots and my billinghams don't particularly look as photographers' toolkits. And I *feel* safer against theft when I wear my camera in a bag. I wouldn't think of putting my camera in the glove department of my car, I have my bag stowed between my legs and the driver seat, always ready to catch it when waiting for a traffic light or so. Yes, that is a good precaution. If I don't feel safe camera hanging outside then it goes into whatever bag I am carrying. Of course the downside is that I can't do a quick draw as specially built camera bags allow. On the plus side nobody knows that I am carrying a Leica in a regular bag (backpack, messenger bag, laptop bag...).
marchyman Posted November 4, 2016 Share #36 Posted November 4, 2016 My cameras live in a bag of some sort or another for transport. When shooting they are either around my neck, in a P-D camera clip, or on a wrist strap -- unless they are on a tripod. The bag stays in my car or motorcycle or rucksack and is used to store the lens caps Bags change over time. The perfect bag for a 7D w/70-200mm lens and an X100 is not the perfect bag for an M w/75mm lens and a Q.

Julian H Posted November 5, 2016 Share #38 Posted November 5, 2016 I have a Billingham (original) Hadley. I have had it for over 25 years. I use it every day as my "man bag" and it still looks great in fact I think it looks better now than it did when new. When in use for photography it will easily accommodate Nshah's requirements plus wallet, keys, phone etc. If something is smaller is required I also have the Alice [rearrange the letters], now called L2. Probably exactly the size Nshah needs but does not suit me so often because it's usually slightly too small. My only regret was the colour I chose of my Billinghams. The beige/brown leather combo stands out too much now and I wish I had a green or possibly black one. The interior of the Hadley now looks a little worn so I neeed to replace it but I suspect the main bag will outlive me! Say another 40 years or so if I'm lucky :-)
