Not sure if it’s been mentioned already, but:

Although the lens cap and hood may not fit over a 34mm filter, the filter can be screwed into the lens threads after the hood is already on. I had to be very patient and get the filter aligned perfectly while lightly turning it. This has the added benefit of further securing the hood in place. Recommend only filters with brass filter rings so nothing gets stuck.

Filter used is a Heliopan 34mm UV. There may be better choices that allow the lens cap and hood to be used normally, I’m not sure.

Why not just leave the filter off since this lens needs little protection? Well, lots of dust where I live, plus chance for blowing mist in monsoon season. It’s also not very easy to clean a lens this tiny all the way into the edges. This also lets me store-away the lens cap, which I’m convinced I’d lose someday otherwise. More often than not, I’ll be using a light red filter instead of this UV.

having using 28 summaron f5.6 on various bodies i am amazed that it is the best on M9. i just lover the rendering and the resolution
