Following the previous photo, still Sicily, without moving position, looking on my left.

In B&W for even more drama!

I lived 50 yards from this beach back in 1968-9. Was a captain in the army engineers assigned to the 2nd field force headquarters of the US Army in the 64th Engineer Terrain Unit. When I arrived there in November of 1968, I thought that I had arrived in heaven. It was an amazing feeling to be in a war zone and yet at the same time in such a beautiful location. I remember almost drowning when after arriving I went swimming during one of thos typhoons and was sucked under by the under-toe. The area was a free zone so it was very safe. Both us and the enemy used it as an informal in country R&R area. It was surreal to return to after an intelligence mission to Pleiku or Bam Me Tuit. I must go and look for my slides taken on that beach when I lived there. During the French Colonial period, the Vietnamese were not allowed in the beach area, that is what I was told. I still miss Nha Trang and sometimes dream that I am back there eating French onion soup in one of the restaurants near the beach! Thank you for sharing the photo, brings back many memories.

Would love to see the slides from back then, as I visited a few years back, amazing place but would like to see it somewhat unspoiled compared to today
