We also have a Botany Bay in the U.S., in South Carolina. The beach is covered with these "skeleton trees." It has a very post-apocalyptic look, especially at high tide when the trees are far out into the ocean.  - John

Now that is an interesting scene.  I've never seen a tree quite so big on a beach before. :)

Mark - LOVE this one.  It is great B&W and I'll bet it would be fantastic in color, too.  If you ever get back there, you might try out some Provia 100F.

Komodo

Yikes, Stuart.  All I can think about is Orlando  :o

Only 4 week now till I can shoot some beach shots

Can't wait to see some results, Gary.  Enjoy your time there.

As you ordered but I hope you don't mind it's in colour rather than color ;-)

I still prefer the B&W because I like the tones and all the shapes of the little ant-like people on the sand.

I hear you, but I think there is a lot of potential in the color, particularly if you can tame the highlights in the sand a little more so the ripples are more evident.

It is funny b/c the first time I glanced at the B&W photo I thought that you were standing on the stones on the bottom right. Only now do I realize that the stones are on the level of the beach and not the level where you were.  Interesting...

West coast of the Isle of Wight towards Compton Bay. This might look like a photograph from the 1970s but I took it less than a couple of weeks ago using an expired (circa 2006) roll of Velvia 100.

very nice, Ian.  Lovely vintage-looking scene, indeed.

Which one is your daughter down there??  :D
