otto.f Posted May 7, 2016 Share #21 Posted May 7, 2016 Advertisement (gone after registration) Perhaps this is a matter of shooting style. I have seldom problems with battery life. I hate having to throw away lots of images at home because I made too many of one subject, so I concentrate on decisive moments and compositions. I don't shoot more just because it's digital. I check my captures very short and only for highlights actually. I have set my Auto review at Permanent and touch the release button to put it off as soon as I don't need the screen anymore, with theatre and concerts I put it Off to not disturb people behind me. Advertisement Posted May 7, 2016 Posted May 7, 2016 Hi otto.f, Take a look here Before to own a MM, anything need to be aware..... I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Giulio Zanni Posted May 7, 2016 Share #22 Posted May 7, 2016 I am a MM1 owner and never experienced any corrosion so far. Months ago I had a problem, shutter error but Leica fixed everything at no cost and outstanding service. Love my Monochrom the only thing that bug me is how quickly the batteries dies. You can easily finish a battery in few hours....that's why I had to buy 4 extra. Apart from that i'm very happy and i saw some good price in the 2nd hand market, definitely worth consider it. Let us know how it goes The battery life in the type 246 is excellent. I shot more than half a day in Japan in January at -20 before needing to replace the battery. In normal conditions you can shoot all day without any problem
Lax Jought Posted May 7, 2016 Share #23 Posted May 7, 2016 Silver Efex is the bomb (that's American for "very good.") Just curious - how does it compare to Nik? It's just been released as free software and seemed to have a great reputation for a while.
BBHewee Posted May 7, 2016 Share #24 Posted May 7, 2016 It's the same. Silver Efex is part of the Nik collection.
jimleicam3 Posted May 8, 2016 Share #25 Posted May 8, 2016 I have recently sold my M8 with the idea of getting the new Q, however, they are difficult to find, (back ordered everywhere), and I still have two great lenses. A Cron 35 mm and a Lux 50. So I am still thinking of getting the Q, but then I look at my lenses and want to keep them, but I may never use them again. At any rate, while using my M8 and X-2, I almost always shoot in B & W. So I have been thinking of the M. Is it worth the price above the M-P? Cheers. jaapv Posted May 8, 2016 Share #26 Posted May 8, 2016 Just get a Monochrom and use the X2 instead of the Q...

Is your question is the Monochrome 1 or 2 worth the price above the M-P? I don't know what the price of the M-P is, or care. The point of the monochrome is you are potentially getting better B/W images, and I would definitely say they are better between my experiences with an M240 and the M246. If you really enjoy monochrome images, and no need for color, I would recommend. Not a matter of price or worth.
jaapv Posted May 8, 2016 Share #29 Posted May 8, 2016 Ummmm. MM1 has battery issue rather then sensor corrosion ? Another thing need to consider Not an issue at all. It is simply a smaller battery, still good for 400 shots, just carry a spare (or two) in your pocket. They are small and light enough. And durable - I stlll use my M8 batteries from 2006/2007. otto.f Posted May 9, 2016 Share #30 Posted May 9, 2016 Ummmm. MM1 has battery issue rather then sensor corrosion ? Another thing need to consider I recently read here someone on the forum (perhaps you?) who had a bad experience with a battery for MM1 or M9, this is not at all a general complaint and never has been visible as such on the forum here
jaapv Posted May 9, 2016 Share #31 Posted May 9, 2016 The vast majority of complaints about batteries concerns third party ones.

wilfredo Posted May 9, 2016 Share #33 Posted May 9, 2016 No complaints about the the original MM. Had I known they could be had at the current price, I would have waited. Most shots on my blog are MM (www.ReligionIsGarbage.com). Cheers!
IWC Doppel Posted May 30, 2016 Share #34 Posted May 30, 2016 The vast majority of complaints about batteries concerns third party ones. I have four Leica batteries, two each fo my M9-P and MM1 with between 330 (Old batteries) to 400 (New batteries) that's a lot of shots before you need another battery. If two and the equivalent of 20 rolls of film is too little then buy another battery smaller, lighter and cheaper then film !
otto.f Posted June 1, 2016 Share #35 Posted June 1, 2016 I just returned from a 4day hike to Machu Picchu, the Inca Trail. I took 3 spare batteries for my MM1 and M9. Not necessary at all! Shot 300 photos with my M9 and the batterie stood at 55%, the MM1 with 200 shots at 75%
