jmahto Posted May 3, 2016 Share #3 Posted May 3, 2016 Just wondering as exif on this photo suggests it was taken at 1/6000. Pete L1000987.jpg Lets see. The exif says f/2.4, ISO200, 1/6000 which translates to Sunny16+1, more or less. There is no direct sunlight on the subject therefore this exposure will cause some underexposure. Unless you lifted it in PP. Seems like bug to me.
jaapv Posted May 3, 2016 Share #4 Posted May 3, 2016 It is not unknown for shutters in A mode to run a bit shorter time than can be set on the dial. 50% faster is a lot though.
steamboat Posted May 3, 2016 Share #5 Posted May 3, 2016 An unmodified M8 had an 1/8000th of a second. So, there'd be a 1/6000th. But this is an M (type240)?
Stealth3kpl Posted May 3, 2016 Author Share #6 Posted May 3, 2016 Yes, it's an M-P 240. I wondered if on Auto, there is an electronic shutter up to 1/8000 like the Q. Pete
jmahto Posted May 3, 2016 Share #7 Posted May 3, 2016 Advertisement (gone after registration) Yes, it's an M-P 240. I wondered if on Auto, there is an electronic shutter up to 1/8000 like the Q. Pete Not sure about MP but on my regular M240 it stops at 1/4000 in Auto. If I open my lens to f/1.4 or 2 in daylight then it gets washed out. If the shutter went higher then the shots would be saved.
Michael Geschlecht Posted May 3, 2016 Share #8 Posted May 3, 2016 Hello Pete, Why not go outside on a bright day & point your camera at some relatively bright subjects to see if you can make this situation reappear. You might have to use a tripod & a cable release. If you find that you can get an equivalent reading with the lens set to maximum aperture then try dialing down to smaller apertures to see if the shutter speeds get longer appropriately in line with the original 1/6000 reading. Remembering that larger apertures's "F" stops are sometimes not as close to their "T" stops as their smaller apertures "F" stops might be. Best Regards, Michael
menos I M6 Posted May 4, 2016 Share #9 Posted May 4, 2016 It is not uncommon that products during testing in the wild are disguised as existing plane jane products. With cameras this may extend for example to tweaked firmware that suggests a common series production model while actually a different camera has ben used. Is this a future Leica camera disguised as a regular current model?
Stealth3kpl Posted May 4, 2016 Author Share #10 Posted May 4, 2016 Yes, it's got the 36 megapixel sensor. Pete
Stealth3kpl Posted May 4, 2016 Author Share #11 Posted May 4, 2016 Hello Pete, Why not go outside on a bright day & point your camera at some relatively bright subjects to see if you can make this situation reappear. Best Regards, Michael I can readily reproduce it. Just shooting through the window, wide open on auto the frames are taken at 1/6000 and as I progressively close the aperture eventually the shutter speed gets to 1/4000, 1/3000 etc. I guess on Auto it tops out at 1/6000. Does no one else experience this? Pete

Stealth3kpl Posted May 4, 2016 Author Share #14 Posted May 4, 2016 1/6000 is not shown in the viewfinder; "4000" flashes. Pete
sblutter Posted May 5, 2016 Share #15 Posted May 5, 2016 I've seen the flashing 4000, took it as warning the ISO's unnecessarily high. I keep ND filters in the bag...
