Paulus Posted April 29, 2016 Share #1 Posted April 29, 2016 Advertisement (gone after registration) Just a few minutes ago I updated my new firmware. The first thing I did after was, import the old profiles. The second thing I did was check if " check battary " was out. Al seemed fine. Then I to a burst of photos. Nothing to see, everything black. Then I made another photo: all black, It looked as if I had no shutter anymore. Then I made a film. Only the sound was audible, no images. So what the ****** happened? ( Called my dealer, who is making some calls now. )

Paulus Posted April 29, 2016 Author Share #2 Posted April 29, 2016 Tried to update the fireware again. Got the message: " Firmware already updated " ( In German because my profiles are in German ) Luckily I had an old fimware : 2001 . Updated it and it was possible to make pictures again. Now I could install firmware 2030 again. This time it worked. My exported profiles on the same SD card were gone. Maybe, I know where it went wrong. I put my profiles ( exported ) on the same SD card, after I put the card in the camera with the new firmware unactivated. Then turned of the camera and installed the firmware with the infobutton. Al seemed well so I imported the profiles again. Then it went wrong. The profiles and firmware seemed to interfere with each other. Lesson learned. rpittal Posted April 29, 2016 Share #3 Posted April 29, 2016 So sorry for the issues Paulus... I just installed the new firmware to my 240 and 246 and all was well (too bad the exp. compensation is not saved in the profile though). Did you try to re-install it again? Soden Posted April 29, 2016 Share #8 Posted April 29, 2016 I had no problem in installing on my M240 and M246. The install instructions say the old profiles no longer work as the information kept has changed (exposure comp).
jdlaing Posted April 29, 2016 Share #9 Posted April 29, 2016 "Old profiles" in the instructions say that? Imagine that!
LocalHero1953 Posted April 29, 2016 Share #10 Posted April 29, 2016 My old profiles reloaded w/o problem. Or at least the only one I use (my basic settings).
Soden Posted May 1, 2016 Share #11 Posted May 1, 2016 Loading my old profiles got an error on both my m240 and M246. When I read that exposure comp was no longer saved, I figured the profiles would not load, so I was not bothered when they failed. I would rather them fail than corrupt the camera. jrp Posted May 1, 2016 Share #15 Posted May 1, 2016 My ISO screen goes to sleep unless I keep the ISO button pressed. Is this normal? (I have no lens on, and it also didn't say "No Lens Detected" when I fired up the camera after the upgrade.)
pop Posted May 1, 2016 Share #16 Posted May 1, 2016 My ISO screen goes to sleep unless I keep the ISO button pressed. Is this normal? (I have no lens on, and it also didn't say "No Lens Detected" when I fired up the camera after the upgrade.) That's they way the ISO is set in the M (Typ 240). Please refer to page 167 of your manual.

Hello. I watched your video but it doesn't show anything other than the black LV screen. I would need a video of how you installed the FW to help. Paulus downgraded and then reinstalled and it solved the problem. Try that and follow my directions on post #51, they are the simplest. http://www.l-camera-forum.com/topic/259897-firmware-update-leica-m240-m262-monochrom-246/?p=3036679 Rick
BBHewee Posted May 1, 2016 Share #19 Posted May 1, 2016 Firmware was installed on SD that I was previously using, but there were no profiles saved onto it. Unfortunately I don't have the old firmware for the 246 so I can't downgrade currently. Black LV screen is just there to show that the camera doesn't capture anything. Pictures come back black, video is black too with audio.
