Hallo,

sometimes, if i press the function button to show the battery capacity or card capacity, it will not change from battery cap. to card cap. Someone knows the problem, ist this a bug, or a mistake? This happens not always.

Still are not updated the Leica M-D

Is this optional behavior?

FW Update 1.0.0.4 is now available for the M-D.  Once installed, the M-D will now power off if not used for 10 minutes. Just done mine, and tested it out. Hoorah!

No, once the new FW is installed, that's it.  There would be no way for Leica to offer options, as the camera has no menu, apart from the ability to update firmware and apply exposure compensation.

Of course there's a way to apply options - read the M-D manual.  It could easily be appended to the date and time setting functionality.

I have read the manual. I actually own an M-D.  Why not write to Leica and tell them to build in more options.  Oh, wait, that's an M240 isn't it?

Nasty little response to a factual post... thanks for that.

10 minutes sounds pretty good to me. I found myself missing shots because of my 2 minute setting on my M 240, so I changed it to 5 minutes and I routinely half-press the shutter when I get going to wake up the camera and I haven't had an issue since changing it to 5 minutes.

Halo, mine is like that too especially soon after I power it on.

It always works if I press it slowly and gently without rush, so I wouldn't call it a glitch.

  • 2 weeks later...

Had the M-D sitting on a shelf for a week but no time to do anything with it. Today I updated the firmware, fitted a Street Strap taken off my M4-2, fitted the Summilux 35 v2 taken off the M-P. Twisted the focusing ring to minimum, set the lens to f/2, set the self timer on. Plunked it onto the bookcase shelf and pressed the button.

First official photo out of the M-D typ 262. My apologies about the subject.

The firmware update evidently reset the camera because the file is numbered 0001. A fitting starting point, I guess.

I dumped the M4-2 and all its bits out of my Tenba DNA 8 and stuck the M-D as accoutered, and the Summarit-M 75mm f/2.4, in the bag. Tossed the Color Skopar 28mm f/3.5 in as well. This will be fun.

  • 4 weeks later...

Several weeks of using the M-D and I'm absolutely convinced (and delighted!) ... this is my perfect M camera.

"Even car manufacturers are offering select cars with manual transmissions" LOL. Sir, you are showing your provenance. :D To a considerable part of the world, automatic transmissions are a minority of car sales and an expensive accessory.

Real Men are confident enough to delegate shifting to the machine.
