Hi!

Having troubles with banding at iso 1000. This is new after a service at CS.

Does anyone else have the banding problem from iso 1000 on?

Thanxs

In the bw image you can easily see the vertical stripes, in the two others you have to zoom into the dark aerials on the right/ bottom side. Its not much but visible in that kind of image. By the way, they are uncropped  ;)

I never had problems with banding, but now after service at CS I have.

What is that (re) mapping of the sensor for?

I cannot say that I can make much sense of these images. In general: underexpose any digital and you will see banding.

That's not true. I can under-expose my X-T1 by 5 stops, and then lift the exposure 5 stops in post and still have no banding...

The same goes for MANY other cameras, especially cameras that use Sony sensors.

I can see the vertical banding in the bottom two photos; but in the top one, the banding appears horizontal.  Did you rotate that image?

the first one is a portrait format.

They are under exposed by -0,33

I don't see anything meaningful in those pics sorry. I don't even know what camera was used. All i can say is there is no serious reason to get banding at 1000 iso with current digital M's if you underexposed by less than one stop.

Learn to use your meter better and you wouldn't have to increase exposure by 5-stops in post!

Can you see the banding?

in which forum are we? (The two cameras are basically the same)

Oh come on. It was just an example. Not ALL digital cameras show banding. That was the point.

I beg your pardon? You're coming here to ask for advice, you show some shots of dirts severely out of focus, you don't make the effort to disclose your exif data, nor the name of the cameras, and you're asking which forum are we? All i can say is i see some big dirts in your pics, nothing  like banding i'm used to get, but if you see some banding yourself, i confirm that you should not get banding at 1000 iso with current digital M's if you don't underexpose by more than one stop. M8 or M9 are another story.

You were the one that said you under expose your XT-1 by five stops and correct it in post.  Why would I even care about this comment in the least.  Nothing about underexposing by 5 stops would ever be practical or realistically happen in my photography, unless I just flat out stopped thinking when I was talking pictures or I relied completely on AE.

I simply don't care about recovering 5 stops of shadow in post.  I guess I don't care much for black cats.

In other words, there exists no real world reason I would ever under expose by 5 stops and complain on this forum (as you have done) about my poor choice of exposure unless I was purely a techno-dweeb and not a practical photographer.  So, again, why not just learn how to meter and not rely on the AE completely?  Then, you wouldn't even know about the small issue of banding which, honestly, I have never practically run into.

I can see heavy banding in all 3 pics. Looks very strange to me.

Chapeau! I cannot distinguish between banding and OOF structures in these images. I'm perfectly willing to believe something is going on, but one does need a fairly even image to judge.

I am writing in the  Leica M (Type 240 / 262) forum, the title of the threat is "M 240 Banding at iso 1000 after service". Just to make it "clear": Its a Leica M 240!

These are not big dirts, thats normal when using lenses wide open - called out of focus rendering or bokeh.

I don't Know how to describe it. In the first image the banding is 90° (horizontal) to the OOF structures. In the two others the banding is vertically.

@jaapv: Was your phone switched on when you took your images?

I don't remember. But I will make a test.

Thanks.

Just made some tests with phone and without - not really any differences.

But maybe the LV does made differences?!

I marked the areas where banding is most obvious.
