Thanks for your thoughts. Part of me agrees, it does look unnaturally dark for a daytime photo, but part of me thinks that when I look at the distant rock, almost directly in line with the sun, the visual effect is right. I'll try messing with it some more. I'm also looking forward to trying a print (I'm not yet set up). I'll also mention that I have calibrated my monitor, what we see may be slightly different. It's a tough situation to try to keep the sparkliness (hey, I invented a word!). Update: I've tried bringing out some more of the foreground, but it also makes the rock gray, and the ocean can't help but be lightened a little, all of which weakens the graphic impact. I will be interested in seeing how it looks printed, it may be able to withstand some lightening of the foreground. The best thing would have been to have a big reflector or gentle softbox to put some light on the branches, while there. I tried cropping like you suggested, it does make a nice view as you can see, I'm not sure that it is "better" as it removes a feeling of distance across the sea. Oh, and BTW the horizon is level, it's an optical illusion that it is not! I know because I originally rotated it 0.7° CW in Photoshop and checked it with a guide. Anyway, I like the crop enough to post it for others to experience. If I was printing it large I think I might prefer the crop, if printing 13x19" or smaller, the original is still my choice. Thanks for the input! Welcome, dear visitor!
