I've tried bringing out some more of the foreground, but it also makes the rock gray,

Don’t you work with layers then, and local adjustments?

Rarely. Perhaps I'm not skilled enough at that, for I haven't been satisfied with the results. I much prefer minimal adjustments, or the occasional retouch of small distractions. That kind of minor change I'll do with a feathered small selection and local adjustments. I am much more comfortable with keeping the "as shot" relationships fairly close, by using bigger overall curve adjustments that affect the whole image to bring it more into the experience I am trying to create. Maybe I'm just being silly, but I really like how more often than not with my new Leica I only need minimal adjustments, it makes me feel good to present the viewer with something close to "the way it was", at least by the choices I made with depth of field, composition, etc. Although I've used Photoshop for many years, it wasn't for photography the way it is for me now, So my skill set needs to be improved according to the new demands, for sure. I signed up for Luminous Landscape and have been learning some things there, when I have time. Feel free to suggest an educational resource concerning layers and local adjustments for fine art photography.

I tried cropping like you suggested, it does make a nice view as you can see, I'm not sure that it is "better" as it removes a feeling of distance across the sea. Oh, and BTW the horizon is level, it's an optical illusion that it is not! I know because I originally rotated it 0.7° CW in Photoshop and checked it with a guide. Anyway, I like the crop enough to post it for others to experience. If I was printing it large I think I might prefer the crop, if printing 13x19" or smaller, the original is still my choice. Thanks for the input!

changing the photo like this was just a suggestion from me, which does not necessarily have to be implemented - but thank you for doing it anyway                         -

it is and was only important to me to have a clear view of the glittering sea                -

but everyone has their own ideas to be respected

you're right about the horizon       -
my eyes would be fooled......

I work with CaptureOne, with that app it is much easier and faster to work with layers than in photoshop, for me.

M10 Monochrom, 75mm APO-Summicron ASPH

Dancing on the rivulet.

This isn't a great photograph, but I do think it is a fun one. What initially looks like splashing drops is actually dancing reflections over 0.7 seconds, on a small fresh water rivulet almost at the sea. Worth clicking thru to the larger size, IMO.
