I suppose in a way the contemporary well to do Westerner with Leica in hand patrolling various third world cities looking for subjects to "capture" is the modern equivalent of the Victorian gent out trying to bag an elephant or net a rare butterfly.

Nice bit of marketing BS. Kapok is a pretty good padding material and doesn't involve dead animals (if that worries you).

I can get two bodies with lenses, filters, cloths spare cards n battery and phone into an A & A 3000 bag which is way smaller and neater than this

A brown paper grocery bag with paper handles at the top is what you are looking for; it is politically correct in every imaginable manner. 

 

It won't protect your precious M kit from water, dust or impact damage but as your lenses tear through the bottom and smash into the concrete sidewalk, just repeat the mantra "less is more" and you will immediately be awash in blissful feelings of magnanimity.

That's for those Leica users who deride others for questioning the cost of the gear, but then moan about battery prices and buy the cheap ones which are prone to internal combustion.
