Yes, this is true. Especially for a film shooter. However, the simple interface and useability in comparison to other brands made it the cheapest digital camera that is suitable for scanning and that has a chance of actually getting used.

I would add for some things better than a scanner too. I hardly ever use a scanner now, almost always use a camera and find it is quicker and great quality.
