Now I understand the inside view of the other photo.
I feel tempted to give the ball a push so that it spins in the water like a child's beach ball 😉

I don’t think it needs to be said, but it’s not actually floating ;-).  I think it looks too sterile but that seems to be a theme with Foster and Partners designs for Apple.

Heh heh.  Of course I like this better 🙂

I assume you know I was head of the team at DP Architects when we did this project.  Could have done with more colour in parts, I agree.  But late afternoons the sunshades can be quite beautiful.

Yes, you mentioned that previously.  I guess the painters ran out of that generic off-white paint by the time they got to the last pipes in the basement hallway, because there's a nice touch of red in there . . . 😉

Just kidding . . .

Actually, the entire facility's interior has a superb mix of timeless aesthetics and a sense of durability. 🙂

Thank you very much.  I’ve been surprised how well the foyers and concert hall Interiors have stood the test of time - over 19 years now.  The Theatre ceiling and balcony fronts where I regretted specifying a gold leaf finish.  Of course it was not real gold and that began to show after a few years.  I _think_ they have refinished it since, using a more durable paint.  Not the same feel but probably a good compromise.

But this is completely off topic!  I don’t have an SL picture but at least this is a camera with the same mount (T).  Here’s your colour...  and still in the basement.
