It takes some real cojones to post this shot immediately following the wonderful series of shots from the Isle of Arran posted by Thighslapper, but here it is.  I have been cooped up in my office for days, but finally escaped an hour before sunset, grabbed the SL and headed for the Bay for some fresh air and perhaps a keeper or two.  Here is one of them:

Kudos to you, Thighslapper. Just fantastic shots!

(Look a bit like medium format to me).

Thanks ...... we had a discussion about this on my Arran trip ..... and all 3 of us (with SL’s) thought the same ...... the SL with its lenses can produce images that can give MF a run for its money...... and from a usability point of view for landscape work it takes some beating .....

I’ll post a few more later in the week when I am back from Poland.....

I am in the throes of deciding whether to purchase a Hasselblad X1D (trying one out at the moment) and your photos certainly give me pause.

Ah what the heck, I’ll post it ... been busy so no time to go and shoot anything — such an expensive glass to shoot flowers on the table LOL LOL

Rob,

I will be interesting to learn of your experience with the X1D, a very good camera, no doubt.  I tried it a couple of months ago, while holding onto my SL, M246, and S007, and I didn't find anything that the X1D gave me that I didn't already have with my Leica cameras, except for its smaller form factor when compared to the SL, and especially when compared to the S007.  So I did what I felt was the proper thing for a Leica disciple to do; I returned the X1D and bought another Leica - a Q.   :)

Robert:

I'm not sure as to what to do . . . I really am 'blown away' by the Hasselblad so far.  The colors are fabulous and the detail exceptional.  I find it so very portable as well - easier to tote than the SL.

On the other hand, as others have pointed out, pressing the shutter does take time and one cannot take another quick photo. So, with my grandkids, ages 3 and 4, I have to beg them to stay still . . . and then this is what I get (below)!

For what the Hasselblad can do well (non moving objects!) it is terrific.

I'm trying to figure out what to get rid of should I decide to keep the Hasselblad!
