With all these pics showing off the new 24-90, I'll put in a word for the previous generation's humble Vario-Elmar 35-70/4.  Here's an example of what it is capable of contributing...

click thru to see it in a larger size.  I rendered it 6000x4000.

Truly enjoying the squares ...

Leica SL + Elmarit-R 24mm f/2.8
ISO 50 @ f/4 @ 1/500

It's raining today. Perhaps I'll use the SL 24-90 zoom on today's walk ... Weatherproof. I was going to go out with the Super-Elmar-R 15mm and do more squares, but weatherproof counts ...

enjoy!

These were all from last night ....... our xmas party and my retirement do ....... a bizarre night out with a mixture of strange cabaret, muzak and an attached mini-funfair ..... all fuelled by almost undrinkable wine ..... thank god it's the last one

All with the 24-90 ........ almost all at 3200 iso

Congratulations and may you spend a long and interesting retirement!

Pete.

Thanks ....... and if there is a flood of photos you will know why ........  :)

Also found a good use for my iphone ....... gave up using the camera ......  but the torch facility gives pretty good daylight colour LED lighting that is perfect for the SL up to about 2m ......

My arms are only a metre long so I'll have to buy a selfie-stick.

If this is only your first retirement, you've probably got a few more careers to go...

I'm trying to picture one-handing the SL and 24-90 while waving a phone-flashlight around in the other.  How much use did you get from all the buttons that you've programmed?  Could you keep it up all night?

all the best,

scott
