Advertisement Posted November 5, 2015 Posted November 5, 2015 Hi Learner, Take a look here Your preferred focusing method on the T?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
jdlaing Posted November 5, 2015 Share #2 Â Posted November 5, 2015 Mostly manual for me as I use M lenses. I'd say 90/10 manual/auto.
Learner Posted November 5, 2015 Author Share #3 Â Posted November 5, 2015 Ooops. Thanks jd... When I posed the question I had just T lenses in mind, and have adjusted my original question accordingly.
TheHobbit Posted November 5, 2015 Share #4 Â Posted November 5, 2015 Aperture Priority mostly and P mode sometimes (when lazy). Why Aperture Priority? Gives me the impression I have some control over the photographs I take.
MichaelU Posted November 5, 2015 Share #5 Â Posted November 5, 2015 I have 3 lenses, the Vario-Elmar T 18-56, the Summicron-T 23 and a Makro-Elmar-R 60 with a Novoflex adapter. Mostly I use the Summicron-T 23 in AF and aperture priority to have control on the DOF.
Guest Posted November 5, 2015 Share #6  Posted November 5, 2015 With my two lenses 18-56 and 55-135, I use always AF. As I am so new to the T, I am using  depending on the circumstances Aperture or Shutter Priority. I also use Manual a lot. Sometimes when I am lazy Program AE. With previous cameras I used almost exclusively Aperture priority. In the Leica shop, the guy there suggested when I asked for a recommendation for good settings with the T. Autofocus Mode 1-Point, Multi-field metering centre-weighted and Manual priority.

A B Posted November 5, 2015 Share #8 Â Posted November 5, 2015 Generally Aperture priority and AF, sometimes MF with R lenses and Novoflex adaptor.
Hunebed Posted November 5, 2015 Share #9 Â Posted November 5, 2015 With T lenses always AF, either in auto or manual settings. You can adjust focus at halfpress with the focussingring on the lens. I use that a lot with close-ups (no proper macrolens, but the d-lux still does wunderful).
tom0511 Posted November 9, 2015 Share #10 Â Posted November 9, 2015 AF, either face detection or spot.
bencoyote Posted November 10, 2015 Share #11 Â Posted November 10, 2015 I'll say for me it depends: flowers and other macroish things: AFC because the continious takes small hand movements and flower wiggle out. landscapes: MF everything is infinity anyway or it's not and I want to deliberately control the focal position and DOF street: mostly MF shooting from the hip or a kind of crude zone focusing portrait like things: MF focus once and minor adjustments as needed casual snapshots: AF if at first it don't succeed try and try again. talt03 Posted November 11, 2015 Share #12 Â Posted November 11, 2015 Still new to the T so I use them all equally depending on subject and environment.
talt03 Posted November 11, 2015 Share #13 Â Posted November 11, 2015 Just a couple of days with the T and liking manual so far. But there are instances when AF is necessary. Again, usually manual.
Yuhau Posted December 23, 2015 Share #14  Posted December 23, 2015 I use T 11-23 and M lenes : specifically Summicron : M28 , M35 and M90 via the M to T adaptor.
Guest Posted December 23, 2015 Share #15  Posted December 23, 2015 Mostly:  Auto focus single AF-s mode  1 point spot (smallest green box) - I forget what it's called but it's the 1st choice  Usual exposure mode is Aperture priority, or Manual - it's great to be able to set both the shutter speed (when capturing moving objects) and aperture (for controlling DOF) and just let the T pick the ISO (from 100-1600 or 3200 in low light).  Also using Touch and Fire Autofocus has become an interesting focus method since the 1.43 firmware upgrade

Your preferred Automatic method?  Which method do you NOT use and why? Normally Aperture Priority because I want to have some control of the depth of field.
