same for me I want the next macbook pro but with a huge jump !

I feel you may be disappointed with the next MBP. Early photographs of prototype casings show either 3 (13") or 4 (15") USB C connectors and nothing else. No headphone/optical out port, no HDMI port, no SD card slot, no Magsafe connector, no Thunderbolt ports and no USB3-A ports. So Apple thinks it is a good idea that we all go back 15 years and have multiple adapters, and dongles hanging off our Mac Book Pro's. I think they may have seriously misread the sort of market that buys Retina MPB's. I am considering buying another of the current models and tucking it away for when my 2012 rMPB dies. My wife has a late 2015 one and even though it has a slower processor than mine (2.5 gHz against 2.7) and only a 500GB against a 750GB SSD, it is noticeably faster.

Back to Leica's. I feel I may miss out the next M upgrade as I am happy with my M240 and SL plus about 15 film cameras.

I just want them to bring a 17 inch one back so that I've got a reasonable size screen to work with

I was looking at a 5K 27" screen iMac when I was in an Apple Store. Stunning screen on it but if you want it, you better buy one quick before the deluded folk at Apple remove all the ports.

When I bought my iPad Pro 12.9 earlier this year, after I had left my smaller iPad in the UK in error and did not trust it to make its way through the French postal system without being diverted onto eBay.fr, I looked at a 12" Macbook, as it is about the same weight as the big iPad pro with the Apple smart keyboard cover. However in another brilliant bit of engineering,  to get the additional benefits of a laptop over a tablet you then have to use an external dongle to do things like charge it and connect to an external disc drive or screen at the same time plus of course, you lose out on the benefits of a touch screen and the ability to use in portrait, that you have on a tablet

The Macbook even makes the Sofort look like a smart bit of design - oh perhaps that is going a bit far

Been tracking macrumors for ages looking for signs of the new MBP coming...

Havent we all.... though I lay a significant portion of my annoyance over the need for an upgrade at the feet of Adobe. Their memory mgmt simply sucks. If they'd quit being so glutinous and consider how to handle things more efficiently, I'm sure I could live with my current mbp for quite a bit longer.

Rumor is that it will have one or two ThunderBolt/MiniDisplay ports. I bought one of the current 15 MPB models as backup so I have two. When they went from the silver keyboard to unibody models, it took 2.5 years before any of the new models was faster for picture editing. If you look at Apple's Photos it indicates they are not greatly concerned how fast it is to work with photos on a Mac. The last dedicated MacBook for photos was the silver keyboard 17 inch. Also most of the improvements on the IOS10 and iPhone 7 is for the benefit of Apple (their Music, cloud, Pay, etc) rather than simplifying it for the user or making it faster to produce.

Continuing OT....Apple desktop is even worse...not sure what I'll buy when my 2009 Mac dies. Never thought I'd consider another Windows machine (that can be configured to handle my current applications).

Jeff

I'm still happy with my 2009 Mac Pro. I have maxed out it's RAM and put in a SSD and it quite fast. I am disappointed that Apple has said it will not run the newest OS 'Sierra'. In a couple years I will be forced to replace it.

I agree,

Fuji instax is successfull. By the way I have used one for 2 years and its pure fun. Many people love it. My kids who are bored when I point a Leica M on them love it when I take instant film pictures.

I also know a pro who uses one when shooting in third world. giving people instant pictures of themselves opens doors and may be the only image of themselve they ever own.

So, real photography still exists and still has its magic. There is a lesson there for us all. Also Fuji is a good place for Leica to look. If only the next M could take some of the features from the X-Pro 2 and improve on them.

My iMac is 2 years old... still loving it!

My Imac is Late Autum 2006. So is my Macbook. I replace the two if the new M is relaesed. Now I can still devellope in One and Lightroom , but sometimes it's faster to just print on chemicals in the darkroom. :)
