wlaidlaw Posted September 14, 2016 Share #1427 Posted September 14, 2016 Advertisement (gone after registration) I might wait until they start to get remaindered and then buy them for my grandchildren as their first Leica. I had actually thought of buying a Fuji Instax for my oldest grandchild (5 and a bit) for his Xmas present this year but then I thought of all the subsequent demands to get him new film. pgk Posted September 15, 2016 Share #1430 Posted September 15, 2016 At the price its a cheap way into Leica ownership for the fashion conscious - I assume anyway (I'm not into instant cameras so don't actually know their pricing, thus I'm unaware of the Sofort's relative expense - not fashion conscious either come to think of it ). Perhaps I'll give it a miss.
steveBK Posted September 15, 2016 Share #1431 Posted September 15, 2016 I wish it had improved optics or manual control over the standard Instax models, but it does not look to be so. That said, using the Instax printer thing.. the photos aren't hugely sharp either, so I think it's also the limits of an ISO 800 instant film. ulli Posted September 16, 2016 Share #1435 Posted September 16, 2016 I guess, i don't really care what it will be. I just got a Leica because I wanted to go away from the over hyped cameras/computers that can snap pictures. Sure technology is good and very important but more important is to appreciate what you have got. All that technology wanna have and be more hype gets me to distracted from the art of photography and slows me down.

tom0511 Posted September 16, 2016 Share #1439 Posted September 16, 2016 smart move by Leica, could be quite successful I agree, Fuji instax is successfull. By the way I have used one for 2 years and its pure fun. Many people love it. My kids who are bored when I point a Leica M on them love it when I take instant film pictures. I also know a pro who uses one when shooting in third world. giving people instant pictures of themselves opens doors and may be the only image of themselve they ever own.
