Advertisement Posted October 23, 2015 Posted October 23, 2015 Hi Clactonian, Take a look here Sebastian Vettel using SL at USA Grand Prix. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Chuck Albertson Posted October 23, 2015 Share #2 Posted October 23, 2015 Another shot here (scroll down): http://www.bbc.com/sport/0/formula1/34622733 I'm sure he's eagerly awaiting his chance to test the SL's weather-sealing - he'll get it.
Guest Posted October 24, 2015 Share #3 Posted October 24, 2015 The years when Formula 1 drivers had to be S are over, Sebastian being 1,76m (= 5ft 9"). (Jenson Button and Mark Webber are 6ft and over.) So the new camera is shown in "real size". http://camerasize.com/compare/#639,389 Could be that the engineers from Leica's CS were also listened to, and at the same time: the cramped size possibly being one more reason for the underperformance of the main rival's CS. The dealmaker for me will be the lenses' performance (this time versus the newest big 24-70 from Far East, the mirorrless one from there having a poorly performing 24-70, which is surprising considering its name). Bill W Posted October 24, 2015 Share #4 Posted October 24, 2015 Another shot here (scroll down): http://www.bbc.com/sport/0/formula1/34622733 I'm sure he's eagerly awaiting his chance to test the SL's weather-sealing - he'll get it. We have had over 8 inches of rain over night here in Austin so he will certainly have the chance to test the weather sealing....!
Chuck Albertson Posted October 24, 2015 Share #5 Posted October 24, 2015 We have had over 8 inches of rain over night here in Austin so he will certainly have the chance to test the weather sealing....! He must have read Jono's review. They're running qualifying today (of sorts), but won't let any fans into the grandstands due to the thunderstorms. Bill W Posted October 24, 2015 Share #6 Posted October 24, 2015 So I guess he had his name on a list for the SL Veeeeeery early. Is his a preprocuction model or the real deal?
Chuck Albertson Posted October 25, 2015 Share #7 Posted October 25, 2015 Advertisement (gone after registration) I notice that the RAW image files Leica posted on their Web page for the SL were shot in and around the Ferrari pits at the Singapore GP. Vettel must have noticed the new camera and asked for one. Sounds like they may start the Austin race behind the safety car, on account of all the rain! They did that with the Fuji enduro a couple of weeks ago.
Rick Posted October 25, 2015 Share #8 Posted October 25, 2015 Well, Leica certainly couldn't have found a much sexier product placement than in the hands of the world's youngest Formula 1 driver, German, Sebastian Vettel, drives for Ferrari! Rick Not sure how old Vettel is but there was an 18 year old Max Verstappen came in 4th. Is was said that he had his license to drive race cars at Formula 1 before he had his actual drivers license to drive on the streets. I think I was still sucking my thumb at 18......! IkarusJohn Posted October 30, 2015 Share #20 Posted October 30, 2015 Sorry, Lars - a language problem. My comment wasn't a question, but an affirmative statement "I thought Chris Amon was in the top 10!" I was agreeing with you, though I can see it could easily be read as a querulous statement.
