I should confess that I don't like this practice and I'm trying to start a new project to denounce it, but I know that our dear forum member Louis likes it and once mentioned to me that he would love to shoot a series about butchers that he can't find in the US.

I took this shot for you Louis, and I was about to post it when I saw your Steakhouse post, what a coincidence ha?! :-)

If you'll ever come to Lebanon, this could be a project of its own for you to work on, I should start mine but so far, I'm not having the required amount of courage to do it... Perhaps this shot will help me push the START button!

To the rest of my dear forum members, I hope this image won't be disturbing to you and i apologise in advance in case it is. Your comments and critiques are always welcome as usual.

:D

I just asked you to post your shot in my thread and didn't realize you had it here!

I do rrecall, a few months ago you posted some shots of a butchery and then I told you how much I would love to shoot blood and meat!... I was always very intrigued by the paintings of Soutine. ;)

Thank you for remembering me and our exchange! If I said I like these shots, it was only for the colorfulness reasons and Soutine's painting! I think this practice is far from being hygienic; more specially in the heath of some countries and all the flies, etc...

But I must admit, I also miss the good old (clean) butcheries and prefer them to the frozen meat that we have today in super-markets!...

Rodrigue,

the shot is very good, telling us many things about oriental habits, not to mention hygienic aspects. This would open  a discussion from history and religion etc.

But you managed to show not only the "hanging carcass". vAlthoug it is in the centre of the picture the story is about these two men and their action. This is very interesting.

Glad to know you liked this one Iduna, It's a common sight in the middle east specially in remote and rural villages. In general,  People won't buy meat from supermarkets fearing it's not fresh or well stored. They always prefer to buy from their trusted butcher.
