indergaard Posted October 21, 2015 Share #21  Posted October 21, 2015 Advertisement (gone after registration) I tried to make some positive remarks on his site but steve removed this comment. As far as i can see he also removed his views on the Leica SL from the banners.  The No. 1 entry on his banner slider is his views on the SL, still... Maybe you should check properly before putting false information out to the world.

Paul J Posted October 21, 2015 Share #23  Posted October 21, 2015 http://www.digitalphotopro.com/reviews/hands-on-with-the-new-leica-sl-mirrorless-camera  "...The Leica SL is the next major milestone in the evolution of digital photography. Not everyone will be able to afford this beautiful expression of German engineering, but everyone will be affected by its presence in the market. In that regard, the Leica SL is worth praise and admonition and it will be remembered as a turning point in photographic history..."
tompoes Posted October 21, 2015 Share #24 Â Posted October 21, 2015 The No. 1 entry on his banner slider is his views on the SL, still... Maybe you should check properly before putting false information out to the world. I did check this but on my computer it is not there anymore and i have no desire to submit false information. To be sure i checked again but it is still not under the banners. Yes you can find it if you dig in the index.
CheshireCat Posted October 21, 2015 Share #25  Posted October 21, 2015 http://www.digitalphotopro.com/reviews/hands-on-with-the-new-leica-sl-mirrorless-camera  Thanks for the link. However, there's lots of nonsense there like:  "the first mirrorless camera to weigh as much, or more, than a pro DSLR. That size affords it some very quick performance, and also increases the durability of the housing."
Agent M10 Posted October 21, 2015 Share #26 Â Posted October 21, 2015 This link shows the size realistically: Â http://www.fdtimes.com/2015/10/20/leica-sl-35mm-full-frame-autofocus/
howard_cummer Posted October 21, 2015 Share #27 Â Posted October 21, 2015 Advertisement (gone after registration) Has any reviewer been able to determine if R lenses will have auto aperture with the R > SL adapter. I doubt if it is possible but would like to have confirmation/denial of my doubts if possible.

Guest VVJ Posted October 22, 2015 Share #29  Posted October 22, 2015 Michael Reichmann from LuLa has preliminarily weighed in...  https://luminous-landscape.com/leica-sl-initial-thoughts/  Jeff  Unfortunately he really has nothing to say, I wonder how many more times he is going to repeat that he does not like the buttons of the S... and there is little doubt in which camp he is, what a waste of bandwidth... thighslapper Posted October 22, 2015 Share #31  Posted October 22, 2015 Unfortunately he really has nothing to say, I wonder how many more times he is going to repeat that he does not like the buttons of the S... and there is little doubt in which camp he is, what a waste of bandwidth...  ...... and even I could write a 'review' based on a Leica press release.....  like reviewing cars ...... you have no idea what you are getting till you have driven it for a few days so what he says is not worth the proverbial paper it is written on ..... almoore Posted October 22, 2015 Share #32  Posted October 22, 2015 There's more than a hint of desperation in the number of times that Leica and the various 'reviewers' leverage the term professional in the marketing of the SL.  This is a camera so serious that it even has, according to the first link, a 'Professional carrying strap – thick, soft and flexible'. That'll have the Canon/Nikon/Sony users crossing over in droves in an effort to leave their unprofessional carrying strap days behind.
digbyhp Posted October 22, 2015 Share #33  Posted October 22, 2015 Yesterday, Steve's 'thoughts' were there on his site, today not so much thoughts. The direct link at the top of the thread still good though. Review seemed quite negative overall, so some credit to him. Maybe why it's not on headline though :-)
biglou Posted October 22, 2015 Share #34  Posted October 22, 2015 Another review here http://www.focus-numerique.com/test-2690/compact-a-objectifs-interchangeables-leica-sl-typ-601-presentation-caracteristiques-1.html  In french, the general idea is a so so appreciation. The zoom lens Vario-Elmarit-SL 1:2,8-4/24-90mm ASPH does not impress much, flare and middle good only. Good autofocus and general reactivity, very good finder but holding the heavy thing not so convenient. They wished the screen were mavable in order to avoid " nose compression " by two kilos of german engineering. They also disliked the menues organisation. That said they kind of like the camera itself.

jjb Posted October 22, 2015 Share #36 Â Posted October 22, 2015 I read the CNET review posted earlier and it appears fair, unvarnished, and detailed. Â http://www.cnet.com/products/leica-sl/ Â Maybe a savvy guy, but a shallow, rushed review, mainly based on JPEG files. Though he reveals some interesting data about the 11 fps marketing BS. Peter H Posted October 22, 2015 Share #38 Â Posted October 22, 2015 Just as reviewers review cameras, we should be entitled to review reviews. I think I might. Â This would of course entail a certain amount of direct quoting. Otherwise the review would hardly be comprehensive or fair, and what serious reviewer could possibly object to a fair and comprehensive review? Â I'll be back.
