Dan Bachmann Posted February 7, 2016 Share #62 Posted February 7, 2016 Currently have booked Hotel Expo Astoria in the Old City but am considering changing. Still studying options. 188 Euro for 3 nights. There are other hotels closer to the waterfront, but the Hotel Expo Astoria looks good and has enough rooms to accommodate others in our group. I've provisionally booked Ritsuko and I in for 3 nights, £171 for the two of us with free cancellation should we wish to change. Another thought was to rent a shareable house in the area. Sandokan Posted February 7, 2016 Share #63 Posted February 7, 2016 Hi I have also booked the Expo Astoria - similar to your costs (about £200 for 4 nights inc breakfast). I will arrive on Thu morning around 11am and leave on Monday around noon.
DigitalHeMan Posted February 7, 2016 Share #64 Posted February 7, 2016 Have also provisionally booked at the Expo. Looks like a decent hotel for the price..... At the moment I have gone for a room from Thursday until Monday, but can't commit any dates at this point until school lets us know when the school holidays will be in October.... earleygallery Posted February 7, 2016 Share #65 Posted February 7, 2016 I don't know anything about Lisbon but the 'old city' is usually a good place in any city! I generally book somewhere as central as possible close to public transport links and convenient for the airport - served me well so far.
StS Posted February 7, 2016 Share #66 Posted February 7, 2016 Another provisionally booking at the Expo here. Looks good from the reviews. Stefan

octo Posted February 25, 2016 Share #73 Posted February 25, 2016 I am waiting for an answer about dates for a possible work assignement in China. It's early days for them to be sure they would need me but if yes, I fear I'd have to miss the fun Fingers crossed!
farnz Posted February 25, 2016 Share #74 Posted February 25, 2016 I feel sure I recall you retiring some time ago, Philippe. My memory must be playing tricks on me again. I hope you can make it to Lisbon and continue your run as the only forum member to have attended every Leica One Challenge (including Kyoto). But of course, entirely selfishly, we'd really like to see Elisa and you again. Pete.
octo Posted February 25, 2016 Share #75 Posted February 25, 2016 Thanks Pete. I did retire indeed but there are some special assignements for which I am uniquely suited: experience and language skills. I know, though, that the technical side would be simpler than last year so they might not need me this time, all the more so since they're trying to cut costs. I'd be seriously p....d off if I were unable to meet you again!

erl Posted February 26, 2016 Share #77 Posted February 26, 2016 Despite it raising the 'anti' for the competition, as they say, Philippe your attendance is required in Lisbon.
photolotse Posted February 28, 2016 Share #78 Posted February 28, 2016 Flights for our party of 4 are booked, we'll arrive on Wednesday 12th and are going to stay for 7 nights. However, the choice of hotel still have to be made. Carsten
octo Posted March 1, 2016 Share #79 Posted March 1, 2016 Got the dates just now: October the 6th till the end of the month That would cancel the whole thing but the hint I got was that they probably could without me. I can't commit to Lisbon yet at this stage, though, which is a pain in the neck as I was formulating plans for flights & hotel.
erl Posted March 1, 2016 Share #80 Posted March 1, 2016 They may be able to do without you, but we can't. Here's an idea. At least book a hotel through booking.com, in the hope that you can come. That way you have a choice of 'congregating' with the rest of us hopefuls! If not successful, you can easily cancel the hotel at no cost. Flights are a different matter of course.
