Wrong frameline with 35 mm 2.4 Summarit

The frames are activated by one of the lugs on the lens bayonet. Are you sure you have mounted the lens correctly i.e. until the latch engages and locks the lens?

If that's not the problem it will be a tiny difference in the tolerances between the lens and your camera and it's probably easiest to ask the dealer to swap it for another lens to try.

I'm pretty sure this will be as James suggests, a case of over rotating the lens when mounting it on the camera. If you keep your finger on the lens release button while mounting your 35mm and go past the click stop the first anomalous frameline to come up is the 50mm. It is often done by people thinking they are being careful, when in reality they need to keep their finger off the lens release button and allow it to click into place naturally.

So I guess it's off to Leica repair.  Thankfully I live 30 minutes away from the Allendale Nj facility. Mounting the 35mm, the 35 frameline is in view until that final click that locks it in place then the 50mm frameline pops up.  And no I don't hold the button down while mounting the lens. I have had M6 and M7s over the years and never this problem. Like I say my 28-35-50 Tri-Elmar brings up all the correct framelines. Quite a shame to have a brand new lens being defective.
