24mm lens without an EVF or Finder

It really depends on what you are shooting and how accurately you need to frame the shot. I use my 21 SEM frequently without a finder but I recognize there's more to the frame than what I will see thru the RF - I'll check the scene and note crop-ability on the edges as you can get some help in post processing if you're willing to crop the sloppy framing. If I really need to have accurate framing I use the Voigtlander 21/24 finder. It is excellent - compact and well built... And at a reasonable price.

and they did extend it - any decisions yet ?

I'm stuck....  haha

Still trying to decide between 21mm and 24mm.  Leaning toward 24mm....and I'd then try to get by without an extra finder.  I need an inspiration of some sort to get me to do it.  I'm sure you know the feeling.

Now my new "deadline," since the rebate has been extended, is next week because I'll have a use for it (whichever) the following week.

Agree after playing with both. 24.

The he real problem for me is I brought a 2lens system ( 35 & 75 , both cron) and now I'm considering a 3 lens system. This makes me rethink it all and consider a :  24 / 50 / 90 set.

Im stuck like you but for a different reason. I almost refuse to have 'extra unused' lenses in my kit.

Same here, but I didn't want to lose 75mm Cron so I ended up with 24-35-75-135 kit.

I might go with WATE or CV 15 III as the next lens. Not sure I want to spend 5k on a WA so CV might suffice. It would be a lens only for fun.

I see a WATE in your future.................

I was rather close to it this weekend, but cured the GAS in time.

...it was a great deal, though.

I use the 21 Super Elmar on my 240 without a finder, and prefer it that way. For me, I've learned to visualize what I'm going to get from it, and seldom if ever have an issue with the framing of the resulting images. I might chimp a frame or two just to get my bearings sometimes, but that's it.

WooHoo.

Ordered the 24mm Elmar today.

The comments and observations on this page (and others) really helped me make the decision.  Appreciated....and entertaining.

Now I'd better like it or it's your fault!!

thx.

LoL If you are that kind of person (many are, including me), it will hunt you all the time.

I had 21mm SEM for more than a month. Some photos ended up great and when I look at them now I feel sorry I sold the lens. On the other hand I still sometimes struggle with 24mm (I guess I am not a WA shooter so much) so using 21mm would be even worse and leading towards more frustration. ...plus all the arguments above related to the more "natural" look of 24mm than 21mm.

It's gonna be fun!!! ;-)

Is width something where one step demands the next? I wonder when the 21 itch will start.

I've always had the itch for WA!

But now I doubt if the 21 is on the horizon.  The 24 is too close.

Hmm....maybe the 18????
