I recently got my M246 which is lovely, exactly what I expected.

I’m getting the MM1 ready to sell and started feeling nostalgic and not sure I’m ready to see it go. Anyone else thinking of keeping their original MM even though they have the M246?

Yes.

I have a special order silver chrome which to my knowledge is only one of 3 that escaped from Solms before they stopped offering customisation .... so I have a particular attachment to it and will only sell if financially compelled to .....

Aye, I'm keeping my original Monochrom, although since the arrival of the M246 it hasn't gotten much use.  I do have a wedding to shoot in a week and will use both Monochrom's in tandem (with different focal lengths), along with the M240.

Leica made me one per my request in silver chrome with the M-P engraving on top. Got it this past April just before the intro of the M246. I'm loving it!

I let my MM go to my assistant. May it rest in pieces in his hands.

Your's looks like mine - showing through at all the edges!

I've not had to make the hard decision yet. I use my M240 for color and Monochrom (M9M) obviously for B&W. I love the form factor of the original M9M, though the M240 (and M246) address it's shortcomings (low-res LCD, noisy shutter, LV/EVF). Still, the M9M feels better in my hand. And my M7 feels best of all. Decisions, decisions.

Default equipment here would be up to 3 bodies. So yes, if I'll buy an used 246 some day, I'll just add it. This seems the cheaper solution compared to trading off the old MM with a loss or spending on a 2nd one and being unable to get hold of a better camera.

I  decided to keep my MM when I traded up my corroded M9 for a 246 (I'm still looking for M9-Ps ... love the look and feel in the hand, in spite of their challenges).

When I look back at M9 images converted to B&W and MM images in dim light when I had only these two to work with, the combination of ISO sensitivity and resolution made the MM images stand out every time. I have read a lot of reviews about clipped highlights in the 246 CMOS sensor, but after missing shots and having the MM jam at crucial moments, I am also ready to give the 246 a chance and hope it will not disappoint. The handling of the 240 style of camera is better in so many ways.

Ask me again in a few years. They're all lovely instruments, though none are perfect. Have fun with whichever one you are using now.
