mmradman Posted September 21, 2015 Share #61  Posted September 21, 2015 Advertisement (gone after registration) Thank you for sharing Edward. Central sharpness is very good but edge sharpness is a bit smudgy. Good people lens but not for architecture, even though it was Karbe's intention for this lens. People move buildings keep still, works well with moving people in poor light, one example https://www.flickr.com/photos/17002757@N08/20773016774/in/dateposted/
Advertisement Posted September 21, 2015 Posted September 21, 2015 Hi mmradman, Take a look here Please convince me that i don't need new 28 Summilux!. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
EdwardM Posted September 22, 2015 Author Share #62  Posted September 22, 2015 So you think it's not enough sharp on the edges?
gpwhite Posted September 23, 2015 Share #63 Â Posted September 23, 2015 Hiepphotog, if you close the 28 SX to f/5.6, I think you find very good corners. Â If you want corners like a 24 Elmar, IMHO, you need to shoot a 24 Elmar as neither 28 SX or SM will be that "quality."

lct Posted September 23, 2015 Share #66  Posted September 23, 2015 Why would the "SM" (28/2?) have a lesser quality than the "EA" (24/3.8?) which has rather soft corners below f/5.6?
hiepphotog Posted September 23, 2015 Share #67  Posted September 23, 2015 Advertisement (gone after registration) Why would the "SM" (28/2?) have a lesser quality than the "EA" (24/3.8?) which has rather soft corners below f/5.6? The Elmar (should be Super-Elmar ) I had was tack sharp at WO for landscape purpose. The best WA/UWA I have ever shot with. Well, the ZM 35/1.4 at f/4 could be a bit better in contrast, but it's not always a desirable thing.  To me, by no mean the Lux 28 is a bad lens. Again, as a people lens, if one likes the 28 focal, it's a perfect choice. I like the WO draw very much. But I'm just stating what I see from Edward's shared RAWs; very kind of you, Edward. My subscription to Lloyd's Leica section just expired so these RAWs help. The difference between the center and edge/corner are striking, especially at smaller aperture. For all the Karbe lenses, I think he got it right with the 50 APO. I was hoping for a similarly balanced lens with the Lux 28; I'm sure if he relaxed a little bit on that distortion, it would be markedly better at the edge/corner. Just my preference .
