Antema Posted June 1, 2015 Share #1 Â Posted June 1, 2015 Advertisement (gone after registration) I am sure this topic has been discussed previously but I cannot find any adequate answer what to do in the forum. I am quite pleased with my Summicron 35/2 Asph lens, an excellent lens in many ways, but not with the plastic hood. Is there any alternative hood available? Advertisement Posted June 1, 2015 Posted June 1, 2015 Hi Antema, Take a look here Summicron 35MM f/2 Asph. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Chuck Albertson Posted June 1, 2015 Share #2 Â Posted June 1, 2015 If you root around on the Net for a bit, you can find a metal 12585 hood for an exorbitant amount of money. But it will clamp onto the Summicron like a croc chomping a barramundi.
jdlaing Posted June 1, 2015 Share #3 Â Posted June 1, 2015 I had to Google Barramundi.
Leicakillen Posted June 1, 2015 Share #4  Posted June 1, 2015 Antema, Here you see three 35 Summicrons with three different hoods: 12504, 12585 and 12526. I think the 12504 is the best one, you´ll find it on ebay (expensive though) or blocket / tradera, much cheaper!  /Anders Welcome, dear visitor! coelacanth Posted June 1, 2015 Share #6  Posted June 1, 2015 I believe the limited edition 35/2 ASPH Black Chrome comes with a 12504 clone (Don't know the part #) so I'd assume that's the most "fitting" alternative to the stock plastic hood from Leica's point of view. tthorne Posted June 2, 2015 Share #9  Posted June 2, 2015 I actually prefer the square hood, but sometimes I wish there was a silver version for the silver chrome version of the lens.

Bill W Posted June 3, 2015 Share #13  Posted June 3, 2015 When I purchased my silver chrome 35 cron, it was used and came with the stock square hood, a generic 12504 and a Leica 12585 so I have the trifecta of hoods. I do wish one was silver but so far have not been brave enough to try spraying.
tobey bilek Posted June 4, 2015 Share #14 Â Posted June 4, 2015 Square hoods are the most efficient at blocking stray light. Â My new to me is just 2 days old now and I asked the dealer to be sure the shade is tight. Â Is is as tight as any round one. Â It is part 12526. Â Any round hood for A42 will work fine.
