jdlaing Posted May 26, 2015 Share #1 Posted May 26, 2015 Advertisement (gone after registration) On the M-240, what frame lines does the Elmarit 24mm pull up?
Advertisement Posted May 26, 2015 Posted May 26, 2015 Hi jdlaing, Take a look here 24 Elmarit f/2.8. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
graphlex Posted May 27, 2015 Share #2 Posted May 27, 2015 It pulls up the 28/90 frame lines.
jdlaing Posted May 27, 2015 Author Share #3 Posted May 27, 2015 I got it this evening and it pulls up the 35/135 on my M-240.
graphlex Posted May 27, 2015 Share #4 Posted May 27, 2015 I may have been mistaken, since I only tried the 24 Elmarit, and not any other lenses. Without a frame selector (which the m240 lacks), it's hard to be sure whether one is looking at the 28/90 pair or the 35/135.
jdlaing Posted May 27, 2015 Author Share #5 Posted May 27, 2015 Ain't that the truth!
MarkP Posted May 27, 2015 Share #6 Posted May 27, 2015 But why on earth does it matter? None of these framelines apply to this lens. Either estimate going to the very edges of the internal OVF or fit an external OVF and do it properly.

Either estimate going to the very edges of the internal OVF or fit an external OVF and do it properly. Because I'm going to get a six bit replacement flange for it and I wanted to know which flange I needed ... That's why. I already know about using the edge of the viewfinder and the OVF or EVF. adan Posted May 27, 2015 Share #8 Posted May 27, 2015 Leica leapfrogs the framelines brought up by the superwides, so that they don't pair with the next closest lens (whether it normally has a frameline or not). Except, of course, the 50-75 pairing, which was forced on Leica by historical contingency. (Internal framelines in bold) 21,28,90 18,24,35,135 Because, of course, the M8 DID add lines for a 24 - and at one point there was thought given to a "wide-finder" camera with internal framelines 21-50 (21/28, 24/35, 50), which instead became the .58x. lct Posted May 27, 2015 Share #9 Posted May 27, 2015 I don't own the 24/2.8 asph but it should pull up 35/135 framelines on the M-240. Lens code should be 011001according to the Leica blog: http://www.l-camera-forum.com/leica-news/leica-lens-codes/
luigi bertolotti Posted May 27, 2015 Share #10 Posted May 27, 2015 Correct : 35/135 pair, so the outer limit of the OVF of M240 is "free from 28 frame" and the whole view is a decent reference for
rsolomon Posted June 28, 2015 Share #11 Posted June 28, 2015 I'm considering the 24. On,framelines why would this pull any framlines? Can the coding be modified for that? Meaning,24m firmware IQ but no framelines. Wouldn't this be most accurate
luigi bertolotti Posted June 28, 2015 Share #12 Posted June 28, 2015 You'll get some framelines anyway ... even if you change the mount with an uncoded one, or file the bayonet's lug that actuates the framelines and paint all white the bits, you'll end up with the 50/75 pair (and then of course, you can activate firmware correction for 24, setting lens recognition "manual" and selecting 24) : not a smart work to do, you destruct lens'originality and gain nothing. jdlaing Posted June 28, 2015 Author Share #13 Posted June 28, 2015 I changed the flange to a six bit 35/135 and coded it to 24 Elmarit and it works beautifully.
