Paulus Posted May 31, 2015 Share #21 Posted May 31, 2015 Advertisement (gone after registration) I doubt it. I cannot imagine it to be close to half the price of a used M. Shutter appears OK, there cannot be much wrong with the rangefinder - I guess new bodyshell, new bajonet ring, new leatherette some odds and ends, clean/adjust everything. And he will get an as-new camera back. The downside is that Leica CS seems to be rather flooded these days. After an accident on my M8 years ago they replaced the upper part and the sensor. € 895,- were the costs. My estimate would be somewhere around this amount. azuled Posted July 29, 2015 Share #23 Posted July 29, 2015 If you don't mind me asking, what ended up being the required repairs? The original damage looked disastrous but that repair bill is much more reasonable than I had expected. While we're on it, how did you feel about the T? Exodies Posted July 29, 2015 Share #25 Posted July 29, 2015 After having thrown my M240 to the cobbles of Paris for about 650€, I'm extra careful. When tripodding I use a quick release plate and keep the camera on a neck strap round my neck.
Peter Kilmister Posted July 29, 2015 Share #26 Posted July 29, 2015 I pay for insurance and recommend others to do the same.

SVX90 Posted July 30, 2015 Author Share #28 Posted July 30, 2015 It came back BRAND new. Plastic stickers all over. Just like new. The housing was damaged. The bayonet with the 6-bit coding sensor was damaged. The lens release button mechanism was damaged. The battery compartment was damaged. The bottom cover is brand new as my old one had scratches on it. I also noticed that the leather was completely replaced. So am I pleased with the repairs? Heck yeah! And to answer Azuled about the T. The T was just okay. The only reason I got is because of the Leica lenses I used with T adapter.
Bill W Posted July 30, 2015 Share #29 Posted July 30, 2015 It does sound like it is a new camera. I guess they replaced the part of the housing that was damaged and hence the new leather covering. Great.
earleygallery Posted July 30, 2015 Share #30 Posted July 30, 2015 The covering has to come off to take the camera apart. It's just sticky backed plastic basically, so it is always replaced as routine, it wouldn't re-stick.
