Peter Kilmister Posted June 4, 2015 Share #343 Posted June 4, 2015 Could the EVF just be a rear LCD panel (like a lot of small cameras) rather than what most people would expect?
IkarusJohn Posted June 4, 2015 Share #344 Posted June 4, 2015 Hat off if they could cram this superb 28/1.7 lens and a built-in EVF in a full frame compact camera. Bit early for the lens to be superb, isn't it?
Mornnb Posted June 4, 2015 Share #345 Posted June 4, 2015 looks nice http://www.mirrorlessrumors.com/first-image-and-full-specs-of-the-new-leica-q-fixed-lens-full-frame-camera Let's see how much it is, but I fear it will be twice the cost of a Sony RX1 which is a great camera. Let's hope the performance will at least somehow justify that premium... - 24MP CMOS full-size sensor - Highest sensitivity ISO50000 This specification is most interesting. It is either is a new cmosis sensor or an off the shelf Sony sensor. Perhaps the sensor that will end up in the new M?
lct Posted June 4, 2015 Share #346 Posted June 4, 2015 Bit early for the lens to be superb, isn't it? I meant superb looking but i would be surprised if this lens were not on par with current Leica offerings. Too wide for me i'm afraid but the real surprise would come from the built-in EVF, if any, combined with this fast lens and a compact body.
mmradman Posted June 4, 2015 Share #347 Posted June 4, 2015 Advertisement (gone after registration) Good specification new Q camera but I have little interest in a full frame camera with a fixed lens. With 50,000 ISO and 3.68MP EVF and processor that allow 10 FPS, we can expect M240 successor to add these features including superb external EVF with decent refresh rate – based on 3 year cycle announcement to be expected before the end of 2015. Following sale of M9P I am currently sitting on fence for digital backup for my M240 where I consider M246 as low light and B&W alternative but with 50,000 ISO new colour sensor sounds like a worthy successor that justifies waiting a bit longer – I would imagine useful images up to 12,500 ISO or up to 2 stop improvement on the predecessor. With such good specification we can expect further slide in second hand prices for M240/P and M9.
Peter Kilmister Posted June 4, 2015 Share #348 Posted June 4, 2015 If the lens is fixed, what would be the purpose of the finger grip just where the lens meets the body?
lct Posted June 4, 2015 Share #349 Posted June 4, 2015 Looks like a ring to toggle AF /MF or somethig like that.
AndreasAM Posted June 4, 2015 Share #350 Posted June 4, 2015 Will likely be the aperture ring.

dkCambridgeshire Posted June 4, 2015 Share #352 Posted June 4, 2015 Looks to be a double grip focusing ring … assuming it's an AF/MF lens. dunk

mmradman Posted June 4, 2015 Share #354 Posted June 4, 2015 If the lens is fixed, what would be the purpose of the finger grip just where the lens meets the body? According to the picture it is fixed no doubt about it. Likely controls on the barrel of the lens:- Aperture Ring Focus Ring On/Off Switch or AF/MF selector or even ISO selector

Mornnb Posted June 4, 2015 Share #359 Posted June 4, 2015 Will that then make Leica "cutting edge" as you so clearly stated many posts ago when comparing Sony and Leica of late? No, it will just mean the sensor will have comparable native ISO abilities to Sony, Nikon and Canon. A max ISO of 3200 with 6400 push, is quite antiqued these days. Although in practise it is not much of an issue for the M given that one is usually using Summicrons and Summiluxs, which are much faster than your typical f2.8 or f4 zoom which everyone else is shooting with. That is to say, with Leica's lenses it's not a big deal. However, cleaner high ISO and higher ISOs would have some major benefits for shooting action and street with the M, in terms of the stopped down hyperfocal technique. satijntje Posted June 4, 2015 Share #360 Posted June 4, 2015 So, ISO 50000, does this mean it will not be the M240 sensor???
