piblondin Posted March 24, 2015 Share #1 Posted March 24, 2015 Advertisement (gone after registration) The movie button on the top of my M240 spins freely in both directions. Is that how it's designed to be? Just wanted to make sure.... Thanks!
Advertisement Posted March 24, 2015 Posted March 24, 2015 Hi piblondin, Take a look here Is the movie button supposed to rotate?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
jaapv Posted March 24, 2015 Share #2 Posted March 24, 2015 Of course: movies move... Seriously, no idea. I've never tried.

earleygallery Posted March 24, 2015 Share #5 Posted March 24, 2015 Does it spin round on its own accord, or only if you 'force' it to spin?
Bill W Posted March 24, 2015 Share #6 Posted March 24, 2015 Its really hard to notice and even harder to make it spin since it is a button that is level with the top of the camera. I said spin but really it is rotate. Spin sort of means once you start it, it keeps going. I think we all need to get out and photograph more...!!!! keithlaban.co.uk Posted March 24, 2015 Share #11 Posted March 24, 2015 What movie button?
farnz Posted March 24, 2015 Share #12 Posted March 24, 2015 Yes it is, it's how you draw the film across the gate to capture the action. The difficulty is keeping the rotation (film speed) constant just using your fingernails. Pete.
jmahto Posted March 24, 2015 Share #13 Posted March 24, 2015 I always thought movie button is to show movies. I didn't bother because I am too cheap to buy subscription for movies (actually ran out of money after M and lenses). It is cool to have this feature though... just to show off in front of CCD guys. and now I learn that this rotates too. Cool... I went back and checked what else rotates. I found two numbered rings on the lens, one next to shutter with numbers, the thing next to thumbie without numbers, all rotate manually but not automatically... I love my camera. LocalHero1953 Posted March 25, 2015 Share #14 Posted March 25, 2015 This explains why my horizons are not level - it's the gyroscopic effect of a spinning movie button. That's a relief - I was sure it wasn't me.
Mornnb Posted March 25, 2015 Share #15 Posted March 25, 2015 Use the god damn level feature, it's accessible in live view mode with a few hits of the Info button!
