earleygallery Posted March 9, 2015 Share #3 Posted March 9, 2015 The lf is an LTM camera, like a ll or llf but without any rangefinder. It should have two accessory shoes (not hotshoes). If they are missing it is most likely that they were removed at some point, although it's possible that the original purchaser asked for a top plate with no shoes for some specific reason. The photos don't work - so not much else we can tell. This is what a 1f looks like (for Jaap) Leica 1F Outfit - Red Dot Cameras
jaapv Posted March 9, 2015 Share #4 Posted March 9, 2015 I know what it looks like, James 1957, it is.... You were quick, the post you respond to was deleted within 10 seconds...
TomB_tx Posted March 9, 2015 Share #5 Posted March 9, 2015 The first link worked once for me, then not again. The top plate indeed was never fitted with accessory shoes, which is unusual.
pop Posted March 9, 2015 Share #6 Posted March 9, 2015 The images can be seen if you copy the link and paste it into an empty browser window. I strongly urge you to upload the image to the forum. I think the camera somewhat resembles what were to be called the MDa or even a "Post-kamera" for the M mount, i.e. a body which is mounted into some kind of apparatus which obviated the need for a finder. I also find the release button somewhat strange; could it be that it was actuated by some device or a pedal or some such?

luigi bertolotti Posted March 9, 2015 Share #9 Posted March 9, 2015 Being used for microscope usage, this is probably a modified item, at factory or by some lab : the winding button is heavily different from standard, and it looks like a 3rd party work (not 100% sure, of course). Is an intersting item, anyway, but If was made mainly for scientific usage, and probably not few had modifications of some kind.
fedeRK Posted March 10, 2015 Author Share #10 Posted March 10, 2015 can be a leica if special for siemens factory? IF Siemens #850982 : Lot 28 somebdoy know anything about this?
jc_braconi Posted March 10, 2015 Share #11 Posted March 10, 2015 Siemens is only one of the large number of factories which used this kind of camera for scientific or reproduction works
Antonio Madureira Posted March 10, 2015 Share #12 Posted March 10, 2015 I think that your camera is totaly consistent with the so called IF Siemens #850982 : Lot 28. a)Serial nºs are very close 850990 / 850982, and cameras are obviosly made by Leitz, for special costumer/s, (for instance top without any holes for shoes sugest that the desision was taken before production), c) and sugest also that there have been a sufficient number of comands to put it in production, d) 20, as said, seems to me a good number but it deserves some confirmation, if possible, in Leica factory records. By the way I can see in front of your camera a mark may be from some label. Do you know the original owner of your camera? It was used as microscope camera but by what company. I think Siemens is a good guess but only a guess. Sorry for my english, I hope better than your portuguese. Regards

I think it was made for Universitys, it was in a lab in the university here in Argentina, the label probably was an invertory number, but it was long gone when i get the camera.
