Advertisement Posted March 6, 2015 Posted March 6, 2015 Hi darylgo, Take a look here I think I 'need' a Monochrome, should I sell a lens or two ?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
B-A-C Posted March 6, 2015 Share #22 Â Posted March 6, 2015 I would get a lot of Tri-X (looks better), or wait until the next Monochrom. JMO.
batmobile Posted March 6, 2015 Share #23  Posted March 6, 2015 You describe my personal photographic hell! The OP has so many wonderful lenses, I cannot imagine giving up all of those focal lengths for one 50mm f2 lens:eek:  I'd sell the whole bunch, acquire an APO Summicron 50 w/ MM and you're all set!
RobertJRB Posted March 6, 2015 Share #24  Posted March 6, 2015 Really ! I have had two ASPH 35's and sold both !! If I had to keep one lens only it's a decision Id make in 5 seconds and that's the 35 Aspherical. But the one lens only thought I have some sympathy for  Is that the original aspherical? Or double A so to say?  If so, I would sell all other 35's together with the 21 and buy the MM from that money. Than post many examples with that 35 AA/ MM combo. This one is genuinely special, shame they are so rare

BerndReini Posted March 6, 2015 Share #27 Â Posted March 6, 2015 Advertisement (gone after registration) At least they are expensive because they are rare (500-600 made) and not because they have undergone five price raises in the last ten years. Bill W Posted March 6, 2015 Share #28 Â Posted March 6, 2015 Your 35 Aspherical alone would pay for your MM unless it is one you would never sell. Mint versions are $16,000 or at least that is what the asking price is. A very difficult decision. You probably have a good idea what you want to do and just seeing what the circus out here thinks. wattsy Posted March 6, 2015 Share #29  Posted March 6, 2015 I wouldn't sell a lens like the 35 Aspherical for a Monochrom (or any other camera).  There are plenty of good used Monochroms on the market now – no doubt in anticipation of the new version expected this spring (in spite of the much claimed "camera for life" "prize it from cold dead hands" etc.). There are bound to be plenty more as time passes (which is more than can be said for the 35 double aspherical).
Antonio Russell Posted March 6, 2015 Share #30 Â Posted March 6, 2015 I wouldn't sell a lens like the 35 Aspherical for a Monochrom (or any other camera). Â It would be the first out the door in my house! So big!!
BerndReini Posted March 6, 2015 Share #31 Â Posted March 6, 2015 It is smaller than the FLE I think.
lct Posted March 6, 2015 Share #32 Â Posted March 6, 2015 Does someone have Leica's "Technical data" for the aspherical? I would be glad to have a copy if any.
BerndReini Posted March 6, 2015 Share #33 Â Posted March 6, 2015 I don't have anything official but I have the Erwin Putts book I can look up.

Herr Barnack Posted March 7, 2015 Share #35 Â Posted March 7, 2015 Keep your lenses, wait till the M-Monochrome II arrives. Then get the MMII.
Antonio Russell Posted March 7, 2015 Share #36 Â Posted March 7, 2015 It is smaller than the FLE I think. Â But bigger than the Summicron which is all you need! Seems to me that the OP has become a collector rather than a photographer.
pgk Posted March 7, 2015 Share #37 Â Posted March 7, 2015 Actually looking at your lens list I would comment that I regret selling the 50mm Summilux pre asph E46 despite have replaced it with the later aspherical version (which is better wide open) but I liked the smoothness of mid aperture detail and tonality) and I regret not buying a 75mm Summilux when I had the chance (silly money now) although the Summicron is a fabulous lens. And there is the problem that you face..... Â Bodies come and go but thinking about it I would agree with other posters that lenses really should be hung onto. IWC Doppel Posted March 8, 2015 Author Share #38 Â Posted March 8, 2015 But bigger than the Summicron which is all you need! Seems to me that the OP has become a collector rather than a photographer. Â The 35 AA is not big at all, slightly smaller than the ASPH Summilux from memory. I'm not a collector as already stated they all get used. This weekend I used my 35 AA, 21 Elmarit and 28 Summicron
colonel Posted March 8, 2015 Share #39  Posted March 8, 2015 Have you tried the M240 ? I liked the B&W better then the M9 And it's faster, quieter, better battery, reliable sensor, etc  Personally I would keep the lenses if you are using them
BerndReini Posted March 8, 2015 Share #40 Â Posted March 8, 2015 Not as good as the MM for black and white unless you like contrasty pictures. A lot of M240 owners are quite happy with the results from the M240 for black and white> Thorsten Overgaard wrote that he couldn't justify owning both the M240 and the MM, but he shoots a lot of color. The M240 is quite good, but if you want to upgrade from an M9 for black and white photography, the M240 is not the answer. The MM has more subtles mid-tone rendering than any other digital camera.
