Echo63 Posted March 5, 2015 Share #21 Posted March 5, 2015 Advertisement (gone after registration) a year, and 17400 frames, mine has been almost trouble free. I have had 3 lockups that required a battery pull, and i occasionally get the magenta zoomed preview thing happening. aside from that, it has been brilliant (and i really hope i haven't just jinxed myself)

Bill Livingston Posted March 5, 2015 Share #24 Posted March 5, 2015 Good, because it is a fabulously complete camera and I'm sure you will be very happy with it... I have an M-P and every time I use it, it gets better and better and feels more and more part of me. Not one problem since the day I opened the box. I'm sure you will love it every bit as much as the rest of us... welcome to the club!
Bob Tilton Posted March 5, 2015 Share #25 Posted March 5, 2015 Brutal question.
epand56 Posted March 5, 2015 Share #26 Posted March 5, 2015 Beside having to adjust the RF (I suppose the fault was on the currier that delivered the camera), mine is perfectly ok.
tookaphotoof Posted March 5, 2015 Share #27 Posted March 5, 2015 Advertisement (gone after registration) It was faultless till a couple days ago. Including today 5 lockups which required a battery take out and I've had some sort of weird preview problem. I'll be updating to the latest firmware tonight. In theory that won't help, but who knows...

In theory that won't help, but who knows... I'm sorry to hear that. How long did you have the camera before this began to happen? Also, is there a known "fix" for the lock-up problem? tookaphotoof Posted March 5, 2015 Share #29 Posted March 5, 2015 Have it for almost one year. Anyways, I'll just update it, leave the battery out for a night and hopefully it doesn't lock up anymore. Maybe it's trying to tell me to shoot more film...

Carduelis Posted March 5, 2015 Share #32 Posted March 5, 2015 I am really pleased to hear that there are owners of M240s whose cameras work perfectly. It is unfortunate that I have an M240 that has the well documented intermittent issues such as lock-up. I do not like complaining, but feel compelled to particularly given the amount of outlay for the camera. I do hope Leica can come up with a future firmware update that fixes the problems. Rick Posted March 5, 2015 Share #33 Posted March 5, 2015 ??? Wrong thread. What I meant to say was that other than the issues I had before the firmware update, mine has been fine. You will enjoy the M, I am certain. Rick
Paulus Posted March 5, 2015 Share #34 Posted March 5, 2015 Reading through these threads, one gets the impression the M (typ 240) is plagued with problems. Are there people whose copy has been trouble free? No, but in the end it always came back, repaired for free in a better condition, so what does it matter? Gibbo Posted March 5, 2015 Share #35 Posted March 5, 2015 My M has locked up a few times when shooting in poor light using the EVF. That's not something I do very often so lockups have been few. I also had a problem with the battery charger which Leica replaced. Apart from these issues it has been very reliable and has always done what I wanted it to, when I wanted it to. Without doubt the best camera I have owned!
pop Posted March 5, 2015 Share #36 Posted March 5, 2015 It was faultless till a couple days ago. Including today 5 lockups which required a battery take out and I've had some sort of weird preview problem. I'll be updating to the latest firmware tonight. In theory that won't help, but who knows... I'd suspect the storage card and suggest using a pristine new one.
tookaphotoof Posted March 5, 2015 Share #37 Posted March 5, 2015 Almost sound hard to believe as I've used lesser cards in other cameras which never gave me problems, even after 3-4 years of use. This Sandisk Extrem Pro (95mb/s) is also just under a year old. Could give it a try though...
esy0345 Posted March 6, 2015 Share #38 Posted March 6, 2015 Initially had multiple freezes requiring battery removal but none since last firmware. Then the vertical line on ISO 320 and 640 only. This was a demo and only warranted for one year which has expired so out of luck on this one.
Bill W Posted March 6, 2015 Share #39 Posted March 6, 2015 Zero problems with both of my M240's. When one thinks about earlier M8 and now M9 issues, the 240's have had a much better track record.
fotografr Posted March 6, 2015 Author Share #40 Posted March 6, 2015 No, but in the end it always came back, repaired for free in a better condition, so what does it matter? Well, for me it matters because this will be my only M(240) and as we all know sometimes repairs can take a long time. If I had multiple copies it wouldn't matter.
