lm_user Posted March 3, 2015 Share #1 Posted March 3, 2015 Advertisement (gone after registration) I understand that the M240 does not have a setting for use with the uv/ir filters like the m8 and m9. Accordingly, are there cyan corner problems with the m240 when using the uv/ir filters? I would expect a slight cyan corner if the filter on the lens is marginally stronger than the filter that is in front of the sensor. If I recall - there was a previous post stating that Leica did not recommend the use of uv/ir filters on the m240 as stated in the owners manual. Yet others say this is the best fix for ir contamination.

lct Posted March 3, 2015 Share #2 Posted March 3, 2015 As i use my lenses on both M8.2 and M240 bodies, i don't remove my UV/IR filters on the latter generally. They cause a bit of cyan shit on borders and/on corners with wider primes than 35mm but they seem to reduce some red shift there as well so all in all it is not a problem for me. I don't use wider lenses than 21mm though.

bocaburger Posted March 3, 2015 Share #5 Posted March 3, 2015 LOL either word works for me I really haven't noticed the purported increase in IR contamination on black synthetics with the M240 over the M9, I like the rendering of green foliage with an IR filter. I have them on lenses 35mm and longer, but not on shorter ones, because I dislike PP.
rsmphoto Posted March 3, 2015 Share #6 Posted March 3, 2015 Yes, I have noticed an occasional IR issue, usually with fresh black asphalt pavement - both with the M240 AND the S/S2. I correct in PS, eschewing the IR filter solution since it's infrequent Richard
Bill W Posted March 3, 2015 Share #7 Posted March 3, 2015 Advertisement (gone after registration) I sold all of my UV/IR filters when I traded for my M9. I now have the M240 and I use only UV filters. I have not seen any IR issue even with my 21.
