Very nice lens . I love mine. Wanted one ever since I tried one at a Leica demo in 2006.

It is black and still heavy. Chrome is a brick. I do like the way chrome lenses look and last with good appearance maintained.

My 50 Rigid looks and performs as new and is handsome on the chrome M9P.

Chrome lenses wear better (less) then black with a weight penalty.

I also think they look not as good on black cameras.

It is a wonderful lens which I loved from 2007 when I tried one at a Leica Day. It went to Calumet Camera as a demo lens and they sold it for $2000.

Then I paid way more recently for my copy.

I've sold my chrome one one year ago and bought now the black version: I'm very happy on the change. The black one is considerably lighter on the camera and I even like it aesthetically more than the chrome. Given that the M240 is a little bit heavier than the M8, this helps a lot.

I have a chrome one, but if I were to buy another one it would be black. the chrome one I simply too heavy.

Yes I couldn't cope with the weight of the silver, although I now have a chrome pre-aspheric and prefer its rendering. (Was a limited edition LTM, close focus limit one metre; came boxed with matching UV filter.)

Finally sucked up and ordered it! Happy so felt like sharing :)

Congratulations and thanks for sharing your joy. You have wisely chosen one of Leica's all-time greatest optical achievements and I sincerely hope you enjoy it to the fullest. The fact you chose chrome in my opinion only enhances the strength of your convictions.

Enjoy !!!
