Three brothers who were honored for saving a man from drowning on a small Wisconsin lake in 1981. I'd love to find out where they are now and what their lives have been like. This photo was taken in the Governor's Conference Room after they received awards.

The guy at left is one of my best friends. I shot this when we were doing some night life in New Orleans a few years ago.

Dr. Art Code, one of the astronomers who worked on the Hubble Telescope. The editor for the magazine I shot this for didn't use this shot because she was concerned Dr. Code might be embarrassed that a wind gust had blown his hair. She instead ran a shot nearly identical but without the blowing hair. I was really pissed about it, but that's the business. The editor gets the final word.

A fine industrial portrait taken at close range. If possible I would try to reduce the over-bright tones on the right protective glove and the garment covering the upper right arm. Did you have special access?

In my experience with such scenes, including operating room spotlights, the color of the highlight defeats dynamic range. With film the problem is profound. With digital sometimes rapid sequence bracketing then merging in post-processing is the fix.
