I don't know (can guess) how the intended sharp version may have looked, but I feel the softer version is far more flattering than a sharper version.

Too often today we all give too much credence to 'sharp' images; probably because we can make them. Just currently, I am reverting to film, both fast and slow. A smooth change from digital.

True. I took a workshop from Mark di Paola, whose trademark style is out-of-focus images. I've tried doing it intentionally, and only some work; most don't. But it does bring to mind the quote: "One photo out of focus is a mistake. Ten photos out of focus is experimentation. A hundred photos out of focus is a style." — Anonymous

Some of my favourite portraits/snaps of my daughter are missed focus. I love them as they feel more like memories.
