Activating panorama mode on the 109

Recommended Posts

Set the camera to JPEG only, high quality in the Photo Style Menu, Page 1. Then set the Panorama direction on Page 4.

Much appreciated, Jim. I already have the "direction", but can't find the actual "function" (mode) that allows us to shoot panorama!...

I also lost my "Scenes" and can't find them! ... One more question: Does LR open 4K stills?

Thanks in advance, I am really lost in the manual! :(

Don't know about the 4K stills.

Do you mean when you push the little button on top of the camera you get no scene choices?

Press the "A" button on the top of the camera and select the drive mode for Panorama.

When set to JPEG high quality and Panorama direction is set you point the camera and hold the shutter button down as you sweep the camera in that direction. A series of rapid fire shots are recorded. I set the burst rate in the menus for L which I assume is Low.

IE: When you go in the menus and select JPEG fine, then go the page and select Panorama Direction the next thing you see on screen is a message press and hold the shutter button while sweeping the camera in that direction.

Louis, I totally agree with you @ confusing manuals. C'mon Leica outsource the manual writing to some actual photographers !!!

Holy Smokes Batman !!!!!

If Photographers wrote the manuals there would be several hundred pages added for styles, opinions, bokeh, lack of bokeh, lighting, etc. etc.

:D

Louis and Sharook,

Please forgive me for jumping around those steps. I tend to do that.

Let's begin anew,

This is how I do it:

1. Set the camera picture quality to JPEG fine.

2. Press the "A" button on the top of camera and select Panorama Mode in the little icons that pop up on the screen.

3. Go back to the menus and select the Panorama Direction of shooting.

4. Fire away!

I hope that helps.

Jim, I chose the direction and Fine jpeg. Then I go to the red "A". But when I am in the A Mode; the Panorama square is not activated! It is white like the square on its left!... :(

Try setting the Aperture Ring to A and put it in P mode.

Are you pushing the little "A" button on top of the camera by the on/off switch to select Panorama Mode?

I have been doing exactly everything you are telling me to do. But the panorama mode remains white (not activated); it just doesn't go to select Panorama Mode!.... :(

I wonder what more I should do to activate that damn mode!

Okay.

Let's try this:

Turn the camera on with the Aperture ring set to the red A. Next go to the menus and select the direction of your Pano shot. I chose left to right.

Next push the little A button on the top next to on/off until you see a P in the top left corner of the LCD screen. The P, I believe, means Program mode and not Aperture Priority. If there is a red A there it is Aperture Priority. Press the A button on top until you get a P.

Next push in the bottom of the wheel below the menu/set button to change the shooting mode to Panorama mode. When you push the bottom of this wheel in, seven little icons show up on the screen and Panorama is #7 all the way to the right. Push in the wheel on the right side and scroll over to the last icon. When the icon has a little red line under it, press the menu/set button. In the top left corner of the screen there should be a little icon where the P was that shows the Panorama icon, or a little mountain and clouds in a frame. Now all you do is hold the shutter button down while slowly sweeping the camera (in my case) left to right because that is the Pano direction I chose in the menu.

If that works, make sure when you are done to set the shooting mode back to single shot because if you don't, it will aggravate you.

:)

Panorama mode works in iA, P,A,S or M modes.

However there are some restrictions.

This extract from the LX100 manual may help.

● ● You cannot record a panorama picture in the following cases.

• • When White Balance Bracket is set

• • When [Quality] is set to RAW

• • When [HDR] is set to [ON]

• • When [Multi Exp.] is set

• • During T (time) recording

• • When using [Time Lapse Shot]

• • When using [stop Motion Animation]

• • When [silent Mode] is set

• • When the [simultaneous record w/o filter] is set to [ON]

• • When [4K PHOTO] is set to [ON]

● ● Panorama pictures may not be created or pictures may not be recorded properly when taking

pictures of the following subjects or when taking pictures in the following recording conditions:

• • Subjects that have a continuous monotone or pattern (sky, beach, etc.)

• • Moving subjects (person, pet, vehicle, waves, or flowers swaying in the wind, etc.)

• • Subjects whose colours or patterns change quickly (such as an image appearing on a display)

• • Dark locations

• • Locations with a flickering light source (fluorescent lamp, candle light, etc.)

Hope that helps.

Jim and Dorman, thank you so much for your time.

After trying everything without any success, I finally reset the camera to the factory settings, and now the Panorama is working! .... I guess before it was set to something that was avoiding the Panorama!.... Now I have to be careful to not go there again! :)

Thank you again for your help and patience,

Happy New Year,
